2025/26 David Moyes

Depends what you mean by style, I’m old enough to remember people wanting to bin Moyes style for expansive Martinez, then hounding him out for something more pragmatic in short order. Is the style now better or worse then 12 months ago….

If you ask most Blues what team played the best ball in recent history, it’s a Moyes team containing, Arteta, Pienaar, Lescott, Baines, Cahill etc.

People talk about style, but it’s rubbish, ultimately what people want is winning football, once you are doing that no one cares about style - that’s Sky Sports half time pundit rubbish.
I’ve just watched Leeds and Newcastle. All out attack trying to win a football game our manager doesn’t want to win games. For style we’re in the bottom 3/4 teams for positive Football. It’s crap and so boring I can’t be arsed any more With Moyes

I didn’t suggest otherwise. I’m responding specifically to a post saying they can’t understand why he’s become a favourite. He hasn’t, obviously, he’s just been picked ahead of another option who also hasn’t been very good. Personally I’d be picking dibling purely for the long term benefit but the reason he’s not been picked isn’t because McNeil is moyes’s favourite.
I think this is fair and probably what I think, it’s not like Dibling has set the world alight but there is some long term aspect to it at least.

That said, Moyes could have been more creative tonight and got Dibling in the middle at number 10 and kept Grealish and McNeil on the wing.

He could also have got Paterson at right back, who can at least cross the ball.

It was an unnecessarily but characteristically dour, uninspiring and safe team selection against one of the worst teams in premier league history.

Didn’t have a clear plan how we were going to score other than a set piece. We don’t have many good options at the moment but he could have been more creative and adventurous with the set up.

Anyone looking at the team would instantly recognise there's a reason why we don't play free flowing football.

Our two full backs are the worst players on the ball in the division and our centre halves are very vulnerable in any game we play on the front foot.

I think people have got to think about how far we've come in a year and relax on the get rid of him shouts. This season is frustrating but it's the nature of being a mid table side and a lot better than being down at the bottom.

If the time comes that gives us an opportunity to kick on and challenge at the top with an elite manager then do it. Let's not just jump the gun and put someone in charge who isn't going to improve where we are now.
Yeh, but it's possible to simultaneously believe that Moyes has improved us from where we were and also to believe he has significant flaws for which we should give him rocks.

Imagine how boring football would be if we soberly took on a reasoned and balanced view :coffee:

Some of us seen this coming

Fantastic opportunity to really kick on in this league , no cash restraints and serious holes that need filling.

But no
Every feeble excuse is wheeled out , difficult market ,only Prem experience , only targets that make us better long term , AFCON players away . We knew this was coming.

As soon as the window opened we should have strengthend , they have had months to do this.

Now suspensions as well as injuries are crippling us with possibly the smallest squad in the league wait til we see the cobbled together team we put out on saturday and an early exit in the cup.

Back Moyes all you want but he has the ultimate say in this and he is failing badly.
As the sayings go
Fail to prepare , prepare to fail.
You reap what you so

I personally cant wait for him to leave.

2 proper full backs instantly improve us. We also have some terrible players on the ball in this team. When you have multiple players who have no clue with the ball at their feet then you have to commit more bodies forward and we seen against Brentford how that goes with 2 slow centre backs on the turn. We get slaughtered on the counter.

Keane very unlucky not to score 2 with that excellent effort which hit the post. Game over then. I know this is not what his detractors want to hear. But there you go.
We could have been 2-0 up, but you couldn’t really say we should have been 2-0 up, and there’s a big difference. We didn’t play well overall, and it was pretty clear which way the momentum was going for quite a while. Football will always be a game of fine margins, if Pickford hadn’t made an outstanding save we’d have lost and this place would REALLY be cooking.

I really don't like him. I think he is a coward. But I don't think we should get rid of him.

I think if there is no push to improve the squad in Jan we should be kicking up a fuss against the ownership. I also think we should be voicing our displeasure with Moyes' ludicrous decisions. I don't want him back to the stage he was where he feels completely unaccountable for anything, and his comments after the last 2 games worry me that he is.

I kind of thought that an ambitious ownership pushing and cajoling Moyes would soften the impact of some of his glaring flaws, and allow him to spend a couple of years pushing us forward. But I'm now getting that feeling that Moyes is going to be front and central of the knife to a gunfight club again.
