2025/26 David Moyes

It’s a normal season for a poor squad with only a bit of quality and for a manager who likes to play % football

I’m not surprised by any of the poor results tbh

Having him here is just stupid old Everton behaviour, and a lot of fans would quite like to see us do something new for once.

I personally would love to see a manager change before everybody expects it with a new face that gets everybody on board. Not necessarily a big name that gets everybody assuming they are gonna be great, but a choice that gives the impression of a club with a plan.

My main fear is not how long this utterly dull manager stays on, but that we won’t see any great change in approach from previous years when we do make the move.

Good post about the squad development. I think Moyes has deluded himself into thinking we can somehow drag ourselves into Europe, but we're far too inconsistent. Problem is the table keeps giving him hope. Even now you look at the table and see Brentford in 5th and Newcastle from nowhere up to 6th.
When he was asked about Europe, when we looked good and were genuinely looking upwards, downplayed it.

He had the chance to be ambitious and decided to shy away.

I’ve been a big fan of Moyes in this second spell as he steadied the ship and is getting us up the table.

However, I would love it if we had a Plan B.

The usual setup works really well against teams of a similar standard & teams who are stronger than us.

But we need something for when we play weaker teams.

-Wolves: bottom of the table.
-Brentford: had only beaten Wolves & West Ham away from home before us.

We should have adopted a different approach in these games:

• Sacrifice defensive quality for attacking intent.

• Patterson & Aznou could be starting in these games, despite being worse players than O’Brien & Mykolenko.

• Do we need “work rate” from McNeil in these games? Or could we have gone more attacking with Dibling?

• Play O’Brien at centre back to allow for a higher line due to his speed (over a Keane or a Tarkowski).

Needs to go in the summer, do not give him any more money in January he's just spewed £100 million up the wall and made us a worse performing team than last season under him.
I actually wouldn’t mind him being replaced in the summer but, you do know that at this moment a hell of a lot of that summer spend is currently absent right? Moyes needs to be doing better, but judging him as if he has a full squad fit and available seems harsh.

Anyone looking at the team would instantly recognise there's a reason why we don't play free flowing football.

Our two full backs are the worst players on the ball in the division and our centre halves are very vulnerable in any game we play on the front foot.
Huge problem considering how much of our attacking play is focused down the flanks.

Moyes is basically the last (and possibly the best) of the old guard survival specialists. We knew what we where getting with him. If perpetual midtable had a face, Moyes would be it. He's his own worst enemy. There's a reason that no fanbase has ever taken to him. We're the nearest thing to that and half of us where glad when he left the first time at his peak. If he goes in the summer like he should then it needs to be a clean break. None of this kicked up stairs nonsense I've heard talked about. We don't need a Kenwright avatar at the club for the next twenty years.

I just want to watch us try And win games , we hardly create anything we hardly attack. Not one chance in the 2nd half v the bottom of the league is a disgrace. 7 wins in 24 at home

Which is very black and white mate, it suggests that winning games is an event without a process of building and ignoring the obvious context of being on our backside now.

What are the biggest two features stopping us from winning game right now - in my opinion 1. Is availability of our best players, injuries, Afcon, Suspension. 2. Is the low base of
Squad quality this management team walked into which I think is impacting still.

I feel were year 1 of minimum 3 of recovery at a minimum. That will be sustained process as oppoaed to an event of just winning - every game.

From a macro point of view from last to this progress has been made.

When we have a full squad available this management team and group has proven it can win PL games. Can it win every PL game - no - but who does…..
