2025/26 David Moyes

Its important to keep things Macro here, was the expectation to win every game we play - nah - so we shouldn't get too high with a win or too low with a a loss, its going to be a boom and bust season, its where we are in our development.
This is the post for me. No need to panic. After the last few years if we're safely away from a relegation fight and relatively comfortable that's a good base to build on for future seasons.

Yeah, Declan Rice really suffered under Moyes.
He definitely developed Rice well! I think he's genuinely good at improving players overall. But people love to counter the Moyes/youth thing by bringing up Rooney and Rice, and I'm just not sure if saying 'well he played the best English teenager of all time and the best English midfielder of a generation' says all that much. That's not a very achievable bar

He was lauded as the main man after the forest game. Very next game the talk is that he's a bit crap and needs replacing.
We are very much like other clubs/fans that seem to think the grass is greener on the other side.

I think if we look at next season, which of the players he's brought in will be in the 11? How has their development gone so far this season?

In short, what has he done and is he doing to improve the team itself for a push forward next season?

A well known group of people on here will cackle with glee and further expound on their detestation of Moyes, and in a few cases of Everton generally.

Don't be daft - no Evertonian is cackling with glee when we lose.

There will always be people who don't like the manager. Claiming those revel in defeat is a nonsense.

Frustrations inevitably increase towards a manager in defeat, but it's point scoring/validation, and it's occured towards every manager and always will. In every football club space.

Of course we're like the fans of other teams, why wouldn't we be?! It's not a massively complex thing, football is a results business and heavily dependent on 'vibes'. When it feels like things are going well people are happy, when it doesn't they aren't. We've only won 1 of our last 5 games and we've just been battered at home for the third time in our last 6, so people are restless. Win the two games this week 4-0 and people will be back to being happy, lose them 4-0 and the knives will be out good and proper. That's how football works.

Some losses are to be expected. It’s the manner of the losses that annoys me. There have been some truly awful home performances in particular.
