2025/26 David Moyes

Agents and players want to go to where they will play. For players around 18-23 it's probably the number one thing they look for because it's the number one thing that correlates to career success

A reputation for not playing youth will be a big blocker for signing youth.
Agents will send players to where they will earn the most commission.

Without checking I would guess there are a lot more players over 23 than under 23 playing in the PL.
Getting game time under 23's isn't the main thing for agents at this point.

Chelsea give mins to all the players though, that's been the issue with Maresca. Being told what team he has too pick as certain players need to keep their market values up. They make a crazy amount of subs/changes between games at Chelsea but players do play then the other 20 players they have all get farmed out on loan somewhere.

Chelsea are the club that worry's me regarding the future of football, they are the club people need to keep their eyes on.

Everything they are doing is finding ways to to give Airtime/Advertisement of their players, like each one is just a new product line..

Imagine being a fan of Strasbourg, Who are they anymore..
It's bad enough losing your own identity, but taking someone else's identity to help you get there, that is a sad sight..

I know football is evolving, but at the expense of other clubs.. it's just not right..

Eyes need to be on them, or they will end up being the new football model for elite clubs..

( other clubs do it, but nothing near as close to them..

I think the main issue is this. Does anyone really believe that giving Moyes 200m in the summer will get us into europe? I dont. Weve had him twice and you get the occassional 1 in 4 performance, thats what he is.
Im on the fence with Moyes but he got us into Europe a few times without a budget and also turned West Ham from relegation struggles into a European team. We can still get there this season also

And you earn the most commission by your clients having a good career and earning big contracts.

I'm not sure why I'm arguing that being a bit crap with youth will hinder your youth recruitment, might as well argue about the colour of the sky lol

Good post. agree with a lot of that. Though these clubs are not always picking up these players for peanuts. Brentford and Bournemouths two forwards cost more than Evertons. It is therefore surprising that people still expect to beat these teams with ease. Based on what? That we have won 9 titles.
The gap has closed and narrowed. It isnt just Everton. These teams can and do turn anyone in this league over.
Moyes isnt the long term solution clearly. But i'd be wary right now replacing him until we have recruited better. We saw first hand yest that when we open up and attack we're vunerable. Now replace the current manager with someine who thinks keane and tarkowski can play a high line in most away games.
Its the first season in the new stadium. We didnt need another relegation fight. And we havent got one. But a lot needs changing.
Can’t disagree….my view from the day Moyes arrived was that he was a safe pair of hands who would stabilise us, but if we want to progress beyond being ‘plucky little Everton’ then he needs to be replaced either at the end of the season or at worst at the end of his 18 months. We need to shake his hand, give him the freedom of the Hill Dickinson and let him finish his long career with Celtic, Scotland or Preston.

This is pretty much their stated aim. They've been open about investing in players as assets, they're even honest about the remit for their first team coach to rotate their team as much as they do.
