2025/26 David Moyes

But you can't have alignment on recruitment until you're scouting identifies the right players.

That's the problem. We are identifying some really poor players as potential signings.
But from the perspective of the suits, "the right players" might be what we signed, but the manager is not getting the best out of them.

If he signed off on these players - whether they were right or wrong - he's culpable. Simple as that. Now, if he objected to the deals and they went through anyway, I sympathise with him. But his position will be untenable in the real world.

Either way, I expect they'll move him on come May. Then we will have eliminated him as the "problem" and the suits will be on shorter rope with the next patsy if they are the incompetent buffoons we suspect they might very well be.

I think there's a recruitment team (some come in after the window closed...) and Moyes makes the final call.

There's talk Moyes has his own models etc on recruitment too.

I can't imagine we have people signing players and Moyes just going along with it.
The right players need to be identified by the recruitment team and then presented to the manager

The manager is ultimately responsible if he agrees to sign a poor player. But we need our scouting to identify the right players to reduce the risk of us trying to sign poor players

Both parts of the process need to work together. If our target lists aren't the right players then it doesn't matter who is the manager.

The set up from the get go was just wrong he should have changed after 20mins but didn't react,he got out thought today by a novice manager. Playing mcneil in that position was criminal.
That Novice manager has them 7th. And why would he change after 20 minutes?, and who to?. We don’t even have a bench.

His position should be without question and he has changed the club since he became manager, but he doesn't half shoot himself in the foot sometimes.

We've gone from being solid at the back to amateur hour. Keane should only get in if all three in front of him are out or we have no right back options at all.

It's way more important at home to have a RB that can make the opposition think, else they will end up camped in our half.

All that said, if we had KDH and the AFCON two we would give a much better showing even with the silly defensive choices. Hopefully all come back with Branthwaite and we can kick on.

Without question?

I dont even think it's fair on the player. He's usually pretty good at centre half but almost always rubbish at right back. He's playing badly in a position he clearly doesn't know how to play. That's on the manager and coaching not the player.

Completely agree mate.

He looks frustrated, and has no connection or understanding with anyone who plays right wing.

It would be fine if we was solid and not conceding.

I'd assume Moyes was the principal figure in recruitment over the summer. It remains to be seen what influence James Smith can bring to bear. Perhaps he was recruited as he was the best fit for the job or is it coincidental that he worked with Moyes previously? We need that appointment to be for the longer term regardless so it has to work out. DoF or not, you can't have a model where the nomimal chief recruiter leaves when the manager does.

Absolute tripe hound this feller. A lad in the other dugout barely into his managerial career showed him how you set up and play at your own pace and win a game against our players.
