2025/26 David Moyes

Garner is a legit right back though. He did a job at left back. Right now he should just be playing right back every week.
Not according to many of our experts. Garner isn't a right back. Garner is just a class player that can play anywhere. But heaven's forbid we ruin his development.

I think he has proven that he can handle it. We need to drop this silly notion that players can't play multiple positions.

defensive disaster. I’ve not seen us get ripe apart and so poor at the receiving end of pressing for a long time.

We lost because brentford wanted it more. Much more.

Newcastle and Spurs were horrendous as well.

To be honest I thought we were fortunate to beat Brighton and Palace. Second half against West Ham was appalling.

One of the big problems here is a “that will do” attitude and it stinks. If it’s players having to play in positions being a detriment to the team, it’s the lack of signings or questionable signings in key areas and we keep having to play catch up with ourselves.

Our owners have been here a year and I have not seen any change in the culture or mentality stakes at all.

Those heavy home defeats shows how limited Moyes is when faced at home with teams that can pass and move. It was a re-run of the 3 nil defeat by Wigan, in the FA cup, all those years ago. Endeavour alone is never enough without a structure hoiw to stop the opposition playing through us. Moyes has until next season to win something and if not he should resign.

Has he called for his immediate sacking, or does he rather want him gone in the summer?

Moyes loves Rohl - can't speak highly enough of him.

When he's been fit, which hasn't been enough - he's had the luxury of Dewsbury-Hall to play ahead of him. Or even McNeil today, who remarkably was once our most important outfield player in the final third.

Compare that to previous years when we had Doucoure and, erm. /Shrug.
Moyes can love him all he likes.

Has he had a positive impact in a single Everton match and helped us secure points?

I'd take Doucoure over him every day of the week right now.

Not by anywhere near enough given the money spent. We could and should be so much better if we spent better.

Dibling Rohl Barry Aznou is like 100m of signings. None of them make the team better. How did we spend that much for players not good enough to start.

Agree.

The clubs would, and have said the likes of Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall were for the immediate.

And Dibling, Rohl, Barry and Aznou are development/for the future.

Either way - as a squad we've improved. Not to the level required, and the recruitment has been poor. It wasn't hard to recruit/improve upon a team that had 0 net spend for about 5 years.

We were told Moyes signed off on the recruitment. If true, that's an indictment of him. If false, who will be made the scapegoat to protect the suits?

Whichever way you slice it, Moyes is on the hook (unfairly if the latter case). But managers get the boot a lot quicker than suits at most clubs. I'm not remotely convinced by the Friedkin era at Everton.

You admit then it's improved.

Got there in the end.

It's not a zero sum game though is it?

How much did we improve?

Hardly at all. You keep pointing to how much was spent but the only two players you can make a case for our of the 8 or so we signed are KDH and Grealish.

You won't tell me you rate Dibling, Barry, Rohl, or Aznou because you know they're crap and have been big wastes of money but if you admit that you lose the stick of the summer spending to beat him with.

Moyesy!! you really messed up today. Hopefully you witnessed that HA is currently streets ahead of Rohl and possibly Tim. Give the lad a run out. We know he is very young but if he came on and showed the older lads up then just swallow that pride

I think last summer is actually the one that has cost us though. Spending badly on expensive players is much worse than poor recruitment with a very limited budget.

I stand by my opinion last summer thar we had no strategy and just made it up as we went along. We just signed randomly and went from player to player. First thing we did was try to sign Tete as a new RB, then gave up signing a right back altogether.

I think it was a woeful transfer window considering we has monet to spend. I want new people to make the recruitment decisions.
