It does seem a bit on the mental side to sweep away basically the entire backroom staff.

It says something that I'm more worried for United's backroom than I am our own now, too. I feel like it'll do us good to have a refresh - especially where the youth team is concerned. I don't see how it benefits United, beyond Moyes finding it more comfortable.

To many changes to our backroom cant be good for us either, but Man u fans must be worried cos their backroom staff will have more knowledge about the man u players and what makes them tick.

I'd be worried for their youth development. It's been so good under Fergie. Our's has been fairly poor in that time, with very few exceptions. Given the abundance of local talent on Merseyside, surely more kids should be breaking through to the first team.

I'm all for a fresh start where the academy is concerned.

How long Irvine been in charge of our academy?

Has it though? Since that Golden Generation there hasn't been much coming through at OT to be fair

Which youth team?
The ones that reached the semi-final of the U21 league?
The ones that qualified for the semi final of the U18 league finishing above Manchester United in the elite group?
Or the U16 and U15 teams who lost a grand total of 1 game between them thrashing the likes of Arsenal by 5, Manchester United by 6 and reaching the final of the international invitational tournament they entered?

Never been a fan of Round but if Martinez (attacking) gets the job, I'd have liked Round to stay on to look after the defensive side of our game.

I don't think there's a problem at that level but work needs to be done on getting them 1st team football when they get to their late teens. Moyes would rather have needles stabbed in his eyes than play a young player, and we were very late in cottoning on to the idea of loaning promising youngsters out. Other clubs have been doing that for years. A new coach willing to blood youngsters is essential in my view.
