has he actually been given this contract then? or just paper talk. not really arsed about round, don't know anything really about him to comment. but if he goes that goes along with my wanting a new outlook at everton viewpoint

Thought the way it would work would be for Moyes alone to go there, be surrounded by a 'winning team' of coaches, physios and have the backing when needed of sralex. That would have worked, I thought. Having wholesale changes I reckon will shorten the length of time the mancs will give Moyes if things don't work out. That support sralex was calling for won't last long if it is just all our old boys thrown in. Think it's funny tbh

It's amazing he's done this. His first big mistake for me, losing proven winners and replacing with people who have achieved nothing. I'm sure they are all good coaches etc but I would be disappointed as a united fan.

When the season starts we'll see if he's changed his ways. I've said before if he suddenly goes attacking he clearly didnt rate our players/had his own agenda to not raise expectations you much.

What the hell are Utd thinking! Six years, doubt they will get six mounths. Hope I'm wong though as I'd like Moyes to do well.

He better had do, otherwise we'll have him back at the first sniff of bad results, and I don't want that.

It's difficult to judge what effect the coaches have because the managers are such strong personalities in both cases. Round and Phelan are probably much of a muchness. Muelensteen is supposed to be very highly rated though and is a candidate to become manager of either Wigan or Twente. I know I've banged the drum for Phil Neville for the top job at Everton but it doesn't make sense for him to take over as first team coach at United. Surely someone like Giggs is going to think 'why am I listening to a fringe player who had to leave United to get a game?'

Losing Robbie Cooke might be one of the biggest blows though. I know a youth coach quite well and everything seems to go through Robbie on the way to Moyes. Beyond being the head scout it sounds like he runs the office.

You don't seriously believe that do you? That Moyes would intentionaly settle for 6th/7th instead of trying to get top 4?

Love it!!! Round, Round!!??? What are Utd thinking?

What a great time to be an Evertonian.

- Moyes gone - we needed change.
- The new pitch at Goodison will be world class - latest in turf innovation etc..
- Modernising the badge (terrible selection) but again, we now get a say.
- Quality of opponents in Pre Season Tournament
- Money not spent in Jan on Fer + Extra TV revenue = funds in the transfer kitty
- New manager coming in

Hopefully Duncan Ferguson gets Round's role regardless of who comes in.

didn't know where to put this but ive never read this before

[TD="class: alt2"]Originally Posted by Craig Bellamy aka The Bell I met David Moyes at the Celtic Manor hotel just outside Newport after my loan spell at Celtic from Newcastle had finished in the summer of 2005.

I really enjoyed talking to him.

I always liked the way Everton played under him. I love their work ethic and their attitude.

Moyes was very persuasive.

I felt a bid odd about the prospect of joining them because I had been a committed Liverpool fan since I was a kid, but he sold me on Everton.

I agreed terms and went up to meet Moyes again, this time at his house near Preston.

I took my suitcase with me, so I could move into a hotel that night after I had signed and start pre-season training the next day.

But when I got there, I could tell straight away that something had changed.

It was like talking to a different bloke. He seemed tense and hostile.

He presented me with a list of rules.

They were very detailed and exact.

They tried to imagine certain scenarios and dictate how I would react.

“If I ask you to move to the right in the 60th minute, I don’t want you shaking your head” or “If you have got something to say, do not speak to anyone else about it, come and see me.”

They went on and on.

I thought ‘Where are we going with this?’

It was a completely different individual to the guy I was speaking to a month ago.

It was as if he had spoken to someone who had changed his mind about me. It felt like he was looking for a way out.

It was bizarre.

If we hadn’t had that second meeting, I would have signed.

Now I couldn’t.

It was awkward.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright was on the phone saying all the arrangements were in place for the medical once the formalities had been completed.

My representative didn’t go into details, he just told Mr Kenwright I'd had a change of heart.

A few weeks later, Moyes rang my representative and apologised.

I don’t hold a grudge about it. I’ve got a lot of time for him and he tried to sign me a couple of times subsequently.

My guess is that someone told him I’d be trouble and he panicked a bit

No. I think he'll do brilliantly.

Not a single person commenting on this has the first clue about how good a coach Round is.

Moyes clearly rates him and it is him who will be judged on their results.

To be honest I don't know how good he is, but in his career he has been an acolyte of Sam Allardyce, Steve McLaren, David Moyes. I never seem to remember any respectable managers being interested in working with him, but could be wrong.
