Just looking for some advise on new wheels. Basically I have 5 year old ultegras atm. The front rim has almost gone and I've had persistent problems with the rear hub. Looking for a minor upgrade willing to spend 200-450£. Any recommendations?

I don't really know pure road stuff. Do you like cup and cone hubs? I do not, as I find the adjustment a ball ache, but some folk love them. That basically determines if you get a shimano wheelset or not. Then a decision on whether you want tubeless tyres will influence the rim, although perhaps most take a tubeless tyre these days.

Tubeless on the roady seems to divide opinion - it's a no brainer for me but I've been on it for beards off road, and the sort of urban commuting I do picks up a lot of punctures. But out on the country lanes some guys say they do 1000s of km between punctures so there's not a pressing need to change.

Hunt are good value for wheels. They're sort of middlemen who just save you ordering from China direct, but their stuff is good.

With regard to the hubs, I'm not a huge fan of cup and cones to be honest as they're a bit of a faff, but I could live with them.

I'm not quite sure I'm ready to go tubeless as I've just bought some gp5000s and a load of tubes! Touch wood I've been fairly lucky with punctures recently.

I've heard good things about Hunt's Race Aero Wide wheelset, but they seem to be aimed at being tubeless compatible more than anything else

Getting stuck into some zwift racing here - got a team time trial up this evening. It's good stuff and pretty hard I have to say - there is some skill in learning the game engine and getting in the draft, but basically there's no relief you can get on technique or psychology compared to real racing. So it's just power, power, and more power.

It's knee deep in fantasists pushing 4-5 W/Kg for an hour in the wrong category - although they are apparently just pushing out anti-sandbagging measures to sort this. Funny vid here of Alex Dowsett getting dropped out of the lead group in a zwift ride. World Tour pro and elite tester can't keep up with Big Daz and his mates from the local crit scene.

anyone know a uk based online store selling turbo trainers? (reasonably priced)

sold out in Ireland it seems
Halfords or Decathlon might have some stuff - stock has been tanked by all accounts, though, so it might just be expensive top end ones left. Think 200 quid gets you a smart-ish one that will be better for the training programs.

To be fair, that could simply be a lack of experience on his part, as once you lose a group it's practically impossible to get it back. I've done a couple of races with Janez Brajkovic, for instance, and he stayed in the group in a way that Steve Cummings wasn't able to. Sure it wasn't a matter of their respective capabilities, just that Brajkovic has done a number of races so knows how things tend to work a bit more.
