Sounds like Pozzovivo has been in a nasty crash after being hit by a car whilst training. Lots of broken bones :-( Always had a soft spot for Pozzo as we're the same size.

I remember a few years ago in the Giro he had a really horrible crash and was motionless on the road for quite some time. Feared the worst watching it on TV, but he's a tough bugger and no mistake. Get well soon Doc.

Always rains in Belgium though doesn't it?

Summer is usually decent. That;s the first truly crap day we've had in a few weeks. But I'd already bought the train ticket and I was damned if I was going to waste it. Some nice climbs from Liege-Bastogne-Liege on the list... Cote De Sprimont, Ancienne Barriere, Cote de Wanne, the back end of the Stockeau (remembering Cancellara as shop steward trying to cancel the tour on that descent in 2009 when I was creeping down in the wet!), Haute Levee and La Rosiere. I really love riding down there.

To be fair, I remember practically every GC rider having a tumble on that descent.

Like a descent on the Fred Whitton.

2010... my apologies.

It was the way he tried to stop it because he knew his leaders couldn't ride downhill at the best of times. Then had a pop at Cav for trying to race after the descent. That guy always ground my gears.

In his defense, it's steep and twisty and the surface is terrible.

I confess to having a bit of a man crush on Fabian. His rides that year in Flanders and Roubaix were for the ages.

...and motorized, along with the World Championship TT that year, according to a very, very well placed source of mine.
Seriously? You need sociopathic tendancies to compete at that level but motor-in-bike is just beyond the horizon, refuse to believe it. Although the clip of him putting Boonen away on the Muur is a gift for these sort of accusations - legendary.

Interesting to see the lineups being announced for the Vuelta.

Tao GH
Wout Poels
Owain Doull
Kenny Elissonde
Sebastian Henao
Vasil Kiryienka
Salvatore Puccio
Ian Stannard

is the Ineos team, which has to be their weakest GT squad for a while. Jumbo Visma have a really strong team, while Movistar look strong on paper but how effectively Quintana and Valverde work for Carapaz (assuming he's the leader) remains to be seen. Presumably as the home team though they'll be tasked with policing the race.

Wow! Doesn't surprise me massively that someone was at it around that time as was just before they started testing for it in a big way. Didn't think for a moment that it would be Cancellara in those races, but no smoke without fire, so it's possible.

Any sense that any teams are still risking it? I assume not as would be nearly impossible to get away with it now.
