http://www.letstravelwise.org/content83_Local-Transport-Plan-2-(2006-2011).htmlthe next one has plans for new stations around merseyside, cherry lane ,walton lane and new ones around bootle linking the northern line with the main line at edge hill.the outer loop has houses build on part of it ,
It does not. A small rear access road at Sainsbury's at Knotty Ash is all that covers a tiny part of the trackbed.
but network rail still retain the right to return to rail use, so it could be done, but at a great expence,
What great expense? The trackbed tunnels and long span bridges are still there on the eastern section of the Outer Loop.
cant see it coming off, the bootle route is already there and has been checked by the council/rail the councillors went up and down on a special train a few years ago, that could be a more suitable plan as part of the lfc ground plans was if they went over 65,000 they had to contribute towards the station in cherry lane station. now im out of here before people think im a rail geek
The Bootle Branch Line can only access Lime St station mainline at one end and Bootle, going towards Southport at the other. Not a practical line, unless much more money is spent getting the line to loop back to the city centre at Kirkdale. Liverpool FC also see the limitations of the line. That is why the Council are looking at the full implementation of the far superior Outer Loop line, with a number of good stadium sites on it, and using both clubs as enablers. It says so in post No. 1, the Council document. I never made it up, the link is there to the Council.
The success of Arsenal's Emirates has made clubs and councils re-evaluate.
