Council pushing for EFC & LFC as enablers to Open Outer Loop Line

I still think its bad how you want to make all the bus drivers and taxi drivers redundant with your mass corporate transit plan to squash Everton and Liverpool together. Plus there's holes all over the place in your proposal...

You are a bus driver

Mass-transit rail on Merseyrail cannot shift 75,000 in one hour. Wembley Park only does around 37,000, but there are other stations around. Mass-transit rail can take the bulk of the load for sure. Cars, buses and taxi can fill in. A 75,000 stadium relying on buses and taxis? Are you having a laugh?

The city has a massively underused mass-transit system and the city must use it whenever possible - for obvious reasons. Squash EFC & LFC together? They can be miles apart on the same line - it is Moyes who wants them in the same stadium. Buses should be to serve the gaps between stations. Ever traveled from Hunts X to Central on Merseyrail, and then done it on a bus? No contest! There shoudl be no long, horrible, bus routes as rapid-transit rail can do that.

Read the first post on the thread again. Please highlight the holes.

A river? With ships? It is a stream that can be put underground, as most in Liverpool were.

The rivers have barges on down this way, but I get your point!

Looks like a viable site given the transport requirements you highlighted, and given the money/sign off I think it'd be a fantastic idea.

Kirkby was a good idea. The problem was that is was not thought out properly. The transport was bad - a major sticking point. It needed the Kirkby Merseyrail station uprated to 4 to 6 platforms to shift 40,000 per hour. The station is an interchange and also does diesel service the other way to Wigan and Manchester as well. So ideal in grabbing mid-Lanacashire fans.

The stadium was too small and too naff.
KIRKBY WAS A BAD IDEA. wasnt thought out properly? ffs - you are spot on with that one though. and how many millions were spent on this "good idea but not thought out properly" by EFC? we are an inner city club with its heart in walton/kirkdale and anfield. i`d sooner us die than go to the outskirts

To simplify it for you. Kirby was a good location, but not thought out properly in transport and how to get through planning regs and objections.

Everton ARE NOT an inner-city club and never have been. They are a short walk from the city limits at Bootle.

  • When Everton first played on Stanley Park it was outside the city boundary.
  • When Everton first played at Priory Road it was outside the city boundary.
  • When Everton first played at Anfield it was outside the city boundary.
  • When Everton first played at Goodison Park it was outside the city boundary.

The city always followed Everton.

The Finch Farm site is good indeed.
Seems fine to me. No idea how we'd pay for it of course but not worth getting into arguments about. Redevelop Goodison? Sure. This idea. Sure. Somewhere else? Why not. I can't help but wonder if it's as worthwhile as arguing about whether we should buy Messi or Ronaldo. This board can't get any of it done anyway.

One thing is certain the stadium issue will NOT stay dormant for much longer.
The *issue*? As in arguing about it and maybe getting some kind of official proposal? Probably true. Ground being broken? If I had to bet one way or the other I would bet on that not happening.

King's Dock. ::sigh::

That said your ideas seem solid ... not sure why you are neg repped to all hell ... did you go mental in another thread?

Wow! Such rambling confusion. What is a "neg repped"? This one needs ..well....
