Do NHS staff have to pay to park at their place of work normally??? Wtf? Can someone give me some idea of how much please. That's scandalous. I'm guessing the senior staff will have free reserved parking?
The hospital I worked in in Coventry started charging in 1991, my wife pays £24 a month, pro-rata reduced as she works 3 days a week.Thats for a car park 15 minutes walk from the hospital, ( from The Olympia to Prescot st.).All staff have to pay as far as I know.

Pretty sure now that me and my wife have both got the Shanghai Shivers. Been ill for a week now. Thought it was just a nasty flu but temperature went a couple of days ago and have just been left with a nasty cough and fatigue like I've never known in my life. Every single movement feels like a great effort and is accompanied by nausea. It's horrible. Just glad my kids haven't shown any symptoms yet.
al the best mate, stay strong

According to John Hopkins https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html currently Germany has 229 deaths compared to the UK‘s 467 death despite Germany outbreak starting earlier and having easier transport links to Italy.

Cases are much higher in Germany but that is because they had a test/isolate strategy unlike the UK.

I have heard it hypothesized that one of the reasons for the Germany disparity in cases:death ratio is that a lot of their cases are amongst younger people who picked up the virus as a result of skiing on Italian ski resorts at the tail end of ski season

I see there is talk of allowing convicted criminals out of prison. That’s just what we need at the moment, 80,000 rapists, thieves and thugs roaming the deserted streets and shopping centres. It will be like Christmas come early for them.....
Pete I’m sure you are aware that it will only be prisoners who pose no risk to the public who will be released

Johnson made a great song and dance about 'how we'll protect care workers'. No sooner had that lie spewed from his mouth, this..

A care home in Hove where around three-quarters of the residents are suffering symptoms of Covid-19 has been refused protective equipment by the government.
After the local MP intervened, the prime minister apparently promised that protective equipment for all care home staff will be distributed by tomorrow. Peter Kyle, the MP for Hove, has said he will “be watching the situation and ensure this materialises”.
About three-quarters of residents and seven members of staff at Oaklands Nursing Home, in Hove, Brighton, are reportedly displaying symptoms of Covid-19 with one resident testing positive yesterday.
But despite the symptoms first appearing 15 days ago, the government has so far failed to issue the home the proper protective equipment it has asked for.
The local newspaper, the Argus, reported that three residents were tested on Saturday. One person tested positive and another person tested negative. The last result has yet to be returned.
Kyle, Labour MP for Hove, told the local paper, the Argus:

Got care workers going into very poorly peoples home to do intimate care who were given single use masks 2 weeks ago tomorrow, they are still using the same ones... We about to have a lesson on how social care is managed and funded, but hey we've got more money in our pockets...

Long leased off or sold to private companies to manage, but yes in most cases. Same for local authority care workers, even if you are regarded as an essential car user... £378 per year for me, local authority essential car user... But we've got more money in our pockets, than ever before...

Been with her 10 years and it’s always been that way so I would assume it’s much longer than that. They also have to pay nursing fees every year which are £130 I think. She just paid that this week.
She should get tax relief on that £130, it can be backdated a few years if she hasn’t claimed it.

I think one of the things that hasnt been acknowledged is in many countries there is a huge number of health care staff who are getting the virus. A huge issue for me are the safety precautions around the availability and provision of PPE.

I dont see any one talking about this as an issue.
n Ireland nearly 25% of those who have tested positive are healthcare workers
To be fair we have been fairly poor at testing but it’s ramping up now

Haven’t seen a breakdown of age ranges for either UK or Germany so could well make a difference on the margins - SKorea’s rate was likely reduced by iirc ~60% cases being in a mega church that had a lot of young women attendees.

However Germany has over 40,000 cases, haven’t got info on how many skiers were tested but they would have to make up a bulk of that to make a significant dent.

If they pose no risk to the public whyare they in jail? Would you be happy if the thug who glassed your daughter, the thief who stole and crashed your car, or the lunatic who made your life a misery with endless "low-level" crime was set free?
