Why are so many on here fixated with making political points? This is yet another, unsupported, politicised comment, in this case linking future infection issues to Brexit. FFS. Why on earth would any government reduce abbatoir standards??
Lobbying? 80pc of abbatoir vet's being foreign nationals who don't qualify for permits?

Is testing really that important? I mean, it won't help you get better, they can't cure it. I feel like we're putting too energy into testing

Testing is important because you can't make predictions unless you have the data. Testing is important because, the real indicator is morbidity levels. Simply how many people are dying.

Whether governments refused purchasing adequate testing kits is important here. Did they simply allow the virus to spread because, "herd immunity" or were they blindsided concerning the gravity of the situation.

Either way, official figures are more than likely severely underestimated. As a consequence when folks go to the hospital feeling a wee bit under the weather. Those institutions are going to be overwhelmed. And there's the problem. State facilities are not set up to deal with this.

Resulting in people not receiving, whatever their illness the attention their condition warrants. Basically we're being faced with a breakdown of a health system. It's far more complicated than that. But it is looking increasingly likely we're dealing with more than the flu here.

Probably because all of this mess started due to poor animal treatment. It's only right that in any period of change people would wish to ensure that standards don't slip. Particularly with new and much vaunted trade deals (many involving less developed nations) in the offing.

Would be a disgrace if Prisoners are let out - if the Govt had any sense they would let mother nature get some of societies worst/most evil off the books.

They are not opening the jails. Instead what is happening is they are releasing what is considered low risk offenders. Not individuals who pose a threat to society.

Honestly the biggest concern right now is not whether some bloke sold weed, it's your next door neighbor who insists on having a BBQ and inviting a dozen people over.

Well, if you're talking about gathering data, then testing would help, sure. Symptoms, like fever, cough andinability to breathe, are also good though.

My issue is with people, including a lot on here, complaining that they can't get tested. You know, for personal reasons. People aren't complaining that they can't get tested because they want their deaths to be recorded in the statistics... They seem to want to be tested because - well I don't think they know why they want to be tested. It's just testing good.

@JEBUS_LIVES What's up?

Thats the idea in Ireland, the new criteria for testing is to focus resources, apparently in Ireland 93% of samples tested at the National Virus Reference Laboratory (14,692) per day have tested negative.

While that is good news in a way, it does seem like an awful lot of "worried well" are looking to be tested, it does beg the question on the threshold for testing and whether its a good use of valuable resources with waiting times of 5-10 days for a test and 4-5 days to get results. 20k per day are being referred for a test, with a 93% of tests proving negative.

I dont quite understand what Duterte has to do with anything?

Manila was put under 1 month lockdown.

First country to shut the stock exchange.

8pm - 5am curfew (playing purge broadcast)

Only 1 person per household allowed out to buy food/meds.

Passes need to be requested to go outside.

Because he is a nut job. Plain and simple.
