Presuming that (in a post brexit world) uk abattoir standards are kept at a reasonable health level. No guarantee of that.
Why are so many on here fixated with making political points? This is yet another, unsupported, politicised comment, in this case linking future infection issues to Brexit. FFS. Why on earth would any government reduce abbatoir standards??

We don't need to see that, it appears it's happening though. If you look into this, it's calculated and scary.

You've got a prison population and the virus breaks out. Do you have the ICU facilities to deal with that? Or do you make the decision to send people home and fend for themselves. Maybe those ICU units are needed elsewhere.

Unfortunately these critical decisions are being made everyday by our medical professionals. Nobody want's to see criminals out on the street. However lines are being drawn here. Just like if you are over a certain age group. You will not get a ventilator.

I'm not saying I agree with the decision but I see the logic in it.

I would say the logical thing to do is if they show signs keep them isolated in their cells for 7-14 days as us law abiding peasants are being made to do.

Would be a disgrace if Prisoners are let out - if the Govt had any sense they would let mother nature get some of societies worst/most evil off the books.

....basic economics, profiteering from supply & demand.
Understand that Eggs mate, but this corner shop has been part of the community for years , it will reflect badly on the owner not the firm.

Asked my lad , who works zero hours for them while doing his degree, what fitness stuff do you actually have in store for him to come out with that rubbish for staying open, hand held dumb bells , a skipping rope was what was in store last week.

Reduced costs to industry. Safety, including the minor matter of public health and well being costs money.

An employer friendly Government not bound by a particular agreed set of standards (e.g. EU Food & Feed Hygiene Regs) might be tempted to consider alternatives.
