Just been to the GP surgery for my warfarin test. Surgery closed but an awning set up in the car park for the test. Felt sorry for the two nurses doing the tests as the awning had been set up in the shade and there was a wind chill factor. They couldn't get the machine to work as the battery didn't like the cold. Had to wait for about 15 minutes before they could do the test. Really felt sorry for the nurses who remained cheerful throughout.
Heard earlier today that granddaughter (who qualified as a dentist last year) has had the virus. She is over it and OK now fortunately. She is very fit having represented Great Britain in swimming at junior level. She still swims regularly.

We don't need to see that, it appears it's happening though. If you look into this, it's calculated and scary.

You've got a prison population and the virus breaks out. Do you have the ICU facilities to deal with that? Or do you make the decision to send people home and fend for themselves. Maybe those ICU units are needed elsewhere.

Unfortunately these critical decisions are being made everyday by our medical professionals. Nobody want's to see criminals out on the street. However lines are being drawn here. Just like if you are over a certain age group. You will not get a ventilator.

I'm not saying I agree with the decision but I see the logic in it.

But putting it in perspective, the prison population is about the same size as the British Army......they are currently isolated, just like my family, and can have food brought to them, and can be allowed exercise following the norms the rest of us have to apply. I would leave them where they are....

People can't get tested because the testing kits aren't there. If you refuse to test the dead or living. Any attempts to ascertain the scope become redundant.

If you don't have the data how can governments possibly deal with this. You can't. We can hope for the best case scenario but it's the equivalent of me asking how long is a piece of string. Your guess is as good as mine.

I would prefer we do short lockdowns of say 3 weeks - give hospitals that time to get as many treated and discharged before opening back up society and letting more of us come into contact for short periods before locking it down again.

I think you'd need more than three weeks.

The incubation period is up to two weeks
You're then infectious for up to a week
If you need hospitalising, you'll likely be in for two or three weeks
Then add another week to free up some extra beds

I reckon you're talking about six to seven weeks per lockdown, at least initially anyway.

Ideally, we'll have learnt our lessons and start to test everyone at first symptoms, isolate, trace contacts and isolate them too. If we can do that, then the need for strong lockdowns will probably diminish.

You should see the amount of people down on Crosby promenade. It’s like a summers day with families all over the place ignoring all the advice.

People using this lock down as a summer holiday. Good job the police are out to ensure people are not taking advantage of it... oh wait... the park where I live has been full of people out in groups most of the morning. The lockdown itself is a farce in all honesty, it’s not even being used for what’s its supposed to do.

Nurses and doctors can’t even get a test but the royal family swan in and get whatever they want

They haven’t just flown in an demanded a test. He is the future King of this country and has as much right as anyone else. If he’s displaying the symptoms he should be tested...
