I understand the frustration, mistakes have been made. There will be a long and lengthy examination. It's not the time now though.

It looks very likely loved one's won't make it through this. I hope that's not the case. We're at a stage though that difficult decisions have to be made. The ball is literally in our court, wherever your position across the pond.

Stay at home. Don't risk others. If you're not in an essential industry. Stay at home. If you are in construction. Stay at home.

Unless you work in essential services. Stay at home.

Essential services in no particular order, are medical staff, law enforcement, folks who work in the food industry, pharmacists/chemists etc. It should be obvious by now.

Cutting peoples lawns or cleaning their windows is not an essential service. Neither is selling sports gear, computer games or the myriad of reasons that greedy people come up with. Including construction. Just go home.

Literally just go home, at this stage staying home is going to save lives. This isn't a panic. Faced with this threat, governments can only do so much. Personal responsibility lies with all of us. Man up/Woman up, I don't care how you phrase it. Take a couple of weeks off, get drunk. I don't care, just stay home.
Agree with the essential services there but you need to add teachers as their kids need somewhere to go but that is it.

Much the same here, people out walking or with their dogs, lone cyclists and joggers and everyone keeping their distance.

I took the dog out at 8 this morning and it was like it was 4am, it was that quiet.
Same here most people following the rules its not hard to do just common sense.Always be some who couldn't care less

Fully understand the point of the host there , completely right.

If a 75 year old woman isn't arsed about dying though then who is anyone else to tell them otherwise?

I guess the other side of the argument, which will be in its minority certainly is that elderly may not care if they don't want to spend their days stuck in the house in fear of a virus. If she doesn't care about getting the virus then let her move about and die. I'd be more heavy on those who probably wouldn't die from it doing the same.

Fair enough, but don't call for help and stay out of hospital. Don't take up a bed and other resources from people that tried to do the right thing.

I know this sounds harsh but to some degree I blame China for letting this virus develop in the first place. Let them be our guinea pigs. We're not going to be in a position whereby we have driven down the new deaths and new infections to zero, for at least 5/6 weeks I'd have thought. By that stage we will know the medical outcome of China's apparent cavalier return to normality. This time let's make sure that we learn from it. And in the meantime close our borders to all flights from China, apart from those repatriating UK nationals who should all go in 2 weeks quarantine.

Don’t apologies for it mate, you’re not wrong. They should apologies and stop pushing the blame. I will call it Wuhan virus for as Long as I live. Let this be a reminder to our generation and beyond how deplorable that scum regime is to mankind.

Our local health officer

“As I write this, I am both immensely grateful and exceedingly disappointed,” he wrote. “We are in a grave crisis. I believe the virus is growing at an exponential rate in our county. Unless everyone does their part and follows the County’s Shelter-in-Place order and the Governor’s Safer at Home order, we will be facing an Italy-type catastrophe very soon.”

“These orders are not recommendations, they are rules to be followed,” he continued. “My disappointment stems from the fact that many people just aren’t taking this seriously and going about their business as if nothing has changed.”

“Our world has profoundly changed in an instant. It is now up to you all, the community, to decide what you want your future to be. If you decide you want to do your own thing and follow your own rules, you disrespect us all. You spit in our face, and you will contribute to the death toll that will follow.”

I see Hancock is asking why the Tubes in London are not running at a normal timetable thereby allowing people to have more space between them, and wants them back at normal rates. He is absolutely correct of course and god only knows why Khan and TfL did what they did, saved a few bob and may have created major problems as a result....

I know mate. I've said so myself a few times on here.

Have heard that they are considering paying out 80% of last 3 years tax returns which seems reasonable to me. It won't help those from the "cash" economy who don't disclose all or part of their income.

sort of brought that on themselves really though haven’t they ? I’m not going to pretend like it’s not incredibly common nor am I going to pontificate but if that’s how you roll you can’t really moan can you ?

I think Khan may have done it to send a message (to Londoners but more importantly the government), but it does really need to go back to normal. Also if those firms who are still working can get away from the rush hour frame of mind that would also help.

I would imagine staffing might be an issue as well but they really need to operate as frequent a service as they can.
