I know mate. I've said so myself a few times on here.

Have heard that they are considering paying out 80% of last 3 years tax returns which seems reasonable to me. It won't help those from the "cash" economy who don't disclose all or part of their income.
Think using tax returns would be best way probably not suit everyone but if your paying your taxes you should get something.

Apparently the first people in Gaza have been diagnosed with COVID 19 - this should massively concern everyone because, if we are looking back to the epidemic of 1918-19, the one part of the world that is closest to the army camps of the Western Front where the 1918-19 virus mutated into a much more deadly form (large numbers of young people isolated from the rest of the world but also in really close contact, so the virus had to adapt to survive) is there.

They are going to have to be helped, and quickly.

Maybe due to the self isolations TFL had to cut services, once it was advising that any new cold like symptoms within the family unit, I would imagine many work forces were depleted over night!

Oh there's definite reasons for cutting the services but these reasons aren't being factored into the people slamming the government.

The autonomy remains with Khan and the Mayor's office on the tubes.

It'd have made sense to have a joint approach. Hopefully, with the government and opposition parties now seemingly working hand-in-hand in parliament, we'll see the same approach with the tubes.

They'll have to do something.

Anyway, seen a lot of posts on social media today by people saying that 'the streets are busier than ever'.

I can only go off what I've seen today but that certainly hasn't been the case where I've been. Only time there has been a line of more than one or two cars is because there's some temporary traffic lights around the corner.

I think self isolating social media would be a good idea come to think about it.

Would you be happy if the mad bitch infected one of your family?

it’s also the issue of the medical resources they take up if they end up infected. If you want to ignore it there isn’t a ‘don’t take me to hospital or treat me ‘ badge they’re all wearing.

that said I can empathise with the frustration of the lockdown if not the selfishness and stupidity displayed .

Yeh, I've deleted the Twitter app off my phone.

I'm trying to just go on on my laptop for like 5 mins at a time every six hours.

I'll have to redownload when I work however.

I'm not saying Pete is right mate. In fact I've already replied to his post to the contrary. But it's also wrong to assume that business is coping. It most certainly isn't. Literally millions are facing financial disaster in the face in the small business and freelance community. Hard times for many people.

@Barnfred 55 re. the self-employed relief/tax returns thing - I'm in the same boat.

However, I've read that the proposal is actually:

80% of average monthly earnings (over the last 3 years)

OR

£2,971

whichever is lowest

I was referring to large business. The thing that drives our economy. In this country it tends to be service based. That means that for the most part it’s on-line.

Most large company’s have well defined business continuity plans and for the most part These are working.

Sure I agree the hit is on small independant business but it’s now upto the big boys to prop up our economy and that’s what’s happening.

If the big boys survive then after this is all over they should be the ones who create the environment for the small businesses to start again.

ythe economy will take a big hit but we are coping probably better than most countries right now.

keep the faith. We can beat this

Government really have not got a clear message out. Two examples. Stay at home unless you are essential worker in Johnsons address this continues to redifined. And whatever Gove was blurting about today... If the leadership at top can't lead don't expect it just to happen and don't be surprised if it looks bad. And the London Mayor role pales into insignificance compared to the responsibility of Burnham's Mayorship.
