You know full well I meant paddling your own political agenda. This isn't the time nor place for it mate.

The herd immunity matter may or may not have been correctly called. At this stage you have absolutely no way of knowing for certain. It's the sort of thing that will undoubtedly come out in due course, and when it does people will make their own judgments.

The fact is, that one paragraph twitter feed from an uncorroborated left wing article in the Sunday Times is no different to Pete paraphrasing a right wing Daily Mail article. To accuse one of politicising whilst saying the other is acceptable is pure hypocrisy and double standards, which is why I pulled you up.

You see where you've gone wrong here is that you see only what you want to see, which makes your point about "paddling your own political agenda" completely absurd as well as rather hypocritical.

For example - that article in the ST was not "an uncorroborated left wing article", as anyone who has read it can see, and it wasn't me that posted that paragraph here (@summerisle drew peoples attention to it, entirely correctly).

Surprisingly, I am. I was mentally attuned to spending god knows how long doing not much sometime ago anyrate. With the weather picking up, at least I have the garden to mend after a few years of neglect!
It's a glorious day here too.
Sun is shining.

Business is coping Pete. It will adapt and continue. This is not government's scaremongering or pandering to the media frenzy. The measures being taken are in response to lessons learnt from other countries who are 2 - 3 weeks ahead of us,

This thing kills people of your age group that is a fact. We have to do everything we can to minimise the spread of this thing.

I think most major cities will start to completely lock down next week with only essential staff allowed out,
I'm not saying Pete is right mate. In fact I've already replied to his post to the contrary. But it's also wrong to assume that business is coping. It most certainly isn't. Literally millions are facing financial disaster in the face in the small business and freelance community. Hard times for many people.

This is an interesting stat from that cruise ship, showing about 1% death rate. Now anyone who has been on a cruise (not a Disney one) knows that the average age is about 60-65, and this is within a controlled environment.

Diamond Princess, Cruise Ship
Confirmed: 712
Deaths: 8
Recovered: 325
Active: 379
Multifactoral Pete- age of those dead? Age of those infected (overall mortality for all age ranges in 0.7% base on Korea and their extensive screening)? Comorbidities of those affected- likely a more well off bunch of folk- and those in higher socioeconomic classes have better overall health and therefore survival for pretty much every disease. Access to healthcare and escalation as needed (especially as the first groups of infected non-chinese)- deaths in Italy are escalating because the ultimate tier of life support is past saturation. Some of these folk need to be ventilated for 2 weeks plus. IIRC we have 5000 ventilators*. 5000 for 70 mill. Germany has 55,000? Even Italy have more per head than us and you can contrast italy's survival rates v's Germany- massive difference.
*apologies if incorrect data, I'm currently off work.

It’s not the time for paddling your political agenda, says the bloke who simultaneously calls an article by the political editor of the Sunday Times - left wing. lol

I was referring to large business. The thing that drives our economy. In this country it tends to be service based. That means that for the most part it’s on-line.

Most large company’s have well defined business continuity plans and for the most part These are working.

Sure I agree the hit is on small independant business but it’s now upto the big boys to prop up our economy and that’s what’s happening.

If the big boys survive then after this is all over they should be the ones who create the environment for the small businesses to start again.

ythe economy will take a big hit but we are coping probably better than most countries right now.

keep the faith. We can beat this

It was grossly negligent. There should be prosecutions after this. I'm not joking.
