This is an interesting stat from that cruise ship, showing about 1% death rate. Now anyone who has been on a cruise (not a Disney one) knows that the average age is about 60-65, and this is within a controlled environment.

Diamond Princess, Cruise Ship
Confirmed: 712
Deaths: 8
Recovered: 325
Active: 379

I've left the telly off this afternoon for this reason. I will catch up with today's news later.
Going to have a nice Sunday roast with the wife and kids for mothers day.
The wife is stood outside talking to her mum and dad and havent come in the house. I finally think they are now getting how serious this is and popping to the shops for 1 or 2 bits isn't necessary.

I fully expected to have 5 Live as my companion, but couldnt take any more a few days ago. Talksport has been good. Bearing in mind their usual subject matter is closed.

They dont downplay the situation, but just chat around it, not about it. And I am in my 5th week ffs.

Its kind of worrying that a load of Everton supporters chatting rubbish on a forum could predict what would happen better than the CMO and CSA though (not that it was just here who warned of the danger of what they wanted to do)? I mean read @DrEFC 's post here and find one bit of it that was wrong:

250,000 ?....

5 Live I do listen to a lot.
That Emma Barnett is starting to get on my nerves a bit though.
They still had Fighting Talk on live though yesterday and i do like that !

I didnt realise that they were all at home! Yeah, my 5 Live embargo is lifted for that. Its during the day/week that its just so depressing. My old man has stopped his paper for the same reason.

People need to let go of their hatred of the other side and fight today’s battle rather than yesterday’s.

There isn’t an administration who will have handled their own country’s situation without error. The perfect course of action to have taken will only become clear with hindsight.

The need to save lives must absolutely be balanced with the need to preserve the businesses and livelihoods people work their whole lives building, as well as our civil liberties. Sadly there are those who have unrealistic expectations that we could have come out of this with either no deaths and/or barely a dent in our livelihoods. Neither of those were remotely realistic.

I am recycling Mail articles telling people that it isn't that bad and they should still walk around as normal, am I? That this self-isolation and businesses closing isn't worth the economic damage it is going to do?

As for the rest of your post - this is a crisis that has been and is being made worse by their actions. Take for example the herd immunity thing, which was correctly called by posters here from all ends of the political spectrum days before we were told the science has changed and that it was in fact wrong. Should people have shut up then?
You know full well I meant paddling your own political agenda. This isn't the time nor place for it mate.

The herd immunity matter may or may not have been correctly called. At this stage you have absolutely no way of knowing for certain. It's the sort of thing that will undoubtedly come out in due course, and when it does people will make their own judgments.

The fact is, that one paragraph twitter feed from an uncorroborated left wing article in the Sunday Times is no different to Pete paraphrasing a right wing Daily Mail article. To accuse one of politicising whilst saying the other is acceptable is pure hypocrisy and double standards, which is why I pulled you up.

Surely its 8 out of 325, if 379 are still actively fighting the virus.

Considering they`ve got no footy to talk about, Hawksbee and Jacobs have been brilliant in the afternoon.

The problem here is Korean churches are essentially franchises in a way that would make American style fundamentalist churches blush. Not uncommon to see people give over 30%+ of their wages to the local church. So those that run them have no interest at all in a lockdown. It's not like the Buddhists , who are also the country's biggest landowners so still have a fixed income from rents and business rates.

Religion hey. Gang of goblins
I know the Christian communities here seem to be following the self isolation/social distancing guidelines. Does anybody know what the reaction has been in the Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and Sikh communities?. Only asking as these tend to be a lot more active religions as regards attending service/prayers etc.
