We’re going to see those inevitable scenes in Supermarkets tonight aren’t we.

Surprised the UK having taken this step, it’s only a couple of days since they closed pubs that’s a quick escalation.

Something you suspect has triggered the quick turn around from normal life, herd immunity, social distancing to lock down, its been quite the 360 trajectory for the UK.
Don't think so. Johnson has been indicating in everything that he's said and introduced over the last 7-10 days that more restriction was likely to come. From a land of freedom to a Soviet state in just over a week. Unbelievable.

I don't think the government are blameless, Non nonessential businesses should have been shut when Arteta caught it however, The mass panic buying and cramming to bloody Pubs/McDonalds/Markets is all on the absolute stupid public who don't take it seriously and are all just selfish dogs, I hate my own people.
So we were all waiting for someone in the public eye to get it first?! What an odd statement. Let's blame Arteta then for not catching it earlier.

It’s the speed of the escalation mate. The U.K.has gone from being very lax, herd immunity, social distancing to a diet lock down in a matter of days. Something has triggered this change in my personal opinion. I suspect there was a flaw in their modelling somewhere and thus the rapid and visible change in strategy in the last week and the quick changes are hoping to compensate. New cases are hitting just under 1k a day. While it has to be remembered todays figures are actually figures from 8-14 days ago, given lags in testing, delays in results and incubation of the virus.

It’s quite radical for democracy in the UK, hopefully it’s the right move and makes the difference.

Germany only did the 2-people gathering thing yesterday mate.

Not saying we shouldn't have been acting quicker, but Italy hadn't gone into full lockdown this time two weeks ago. Neither had France, Netherlands or Germany.

They were all too slow to act. Doesn't excuse our mob or their initial attempted method but nobody did the right thing two weeks ago.

Which is why after all of this is over, whenever this is, they all need to be held to account for not doing more.
or less. There is no guarantee that the numbers who ultimately die because of the virus will prove to be much less than under the adopted uber restriction approach without a vaccine being found. The reasoning behind the measures being taken is principally to do with holding pressure off the NHS.
