Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Its everywhere in health care now - since all restrictions have been eased. Busiest its been during all this, four breakouts in our place - the one unit. Breakout being a big cluster of transmission in a clinical area. Heres what happens restrictions are eased in society, health care gets over run, then patient transmits to another patient. Work this year has been stop start, get back to normal practice, bang an outbreak, essential services curtailed, manage that, bang another out break - massively frustrating.

During all this ive never gowned up and full PPE'd as much as i am at the moment, pretty much everyone you see in on precautions

Governments wont say it, but they want this to spread now, the approach is herd immunity. Still we need to be staring a 4th jab programme in August, hopefully we've learned lessons about what this does in the winter.

Funding and support already pulled from the ZOE project. Just about the last bastion of clean, accurate data
and research.

BA2 is now the new show in town. On the way to, if not already the dominant variant.

30% more infectious then Omicron - which was 70% more infectious then Delta. Thats seriously infectious. Good news is the vaccines are holding up. But we’re going to hit a big wave of infection.

WHO criticises Ireland UK and others for moving too quickly to lift restrictions. In recent weeks my daughter who is a nurse, my sister, my niece have tested positive with one being hospitalised with pneumonia.

This new strain is worse than Omicron. We are not out of this pandemic by any means.

Btw our Taoiseach is stuck in the USA having tested positive. Will this bring some reality to our Government?

I am hardly moving from home except for essential shopping. Really annoyed at so many not wearing masks. Thankfully my wife and I still negative.

Yes I want to get back to normal asap but this is reckless behaviour starting with our leaders.

I won't start on UK's PM

I do feel for those of you who are concerned about it and especially those who have to be concerned about it - it must be really hard at the moment.

I've sort of accepted I'll catch it every few weeks/months forever. If it turns out it really destroys the immune system or has a cumulative effect on damaging organs as some of the more fringe scientists believe then I figure I'll be in the same boat as everyone else who's on the reckless side of things.

Problem is there's nothing to wait for - they've never managed to eradicate a coronavirus before though vaccination so what would the end game be with further lockdowns etc?

Is that a daily record?
Mate, I think it may well be. We have taken the restrictions down far too early. Yes I feel for self employed business people, some of whom are good friends.

However this flipping thing is far from gone. Another variant. Our Taoiseach positive and stuck in the USA.

It has hammered my family in recent weeks. So far I am negative - my pipe and Guinness are great :)

Sorry to hear that, I hope they are okay

Mate, didn't know you were in the health service. My sincere gratitude for what you do. Thankfully my daughter is coming through being positive and my wife still negative- both nurses. You are heroes!
