Ya agreed, not saying he lied in regards to anything about covid and think he did a great job with the pandemic but the cervical cancer stuff was disgraceful

During my covid infection I felt so tired, exhausted would be the correct term, but since testing negative I have developed insomnia, speaking to a work colleague who also was struck down with covid, told me it is an after affect of covid, any one else having sleeping problems since?

One for all those legal eagles out there, so, my lad is working for Royal Mail, he came home from work yesterday afternoon, he was going to visit the grandparents and before he ever goes to see them he takes a covid test because they are in the vunerable category. He tested positive so obviously didn't go.
he took a second test this morning when he got up for work just to make sure, still positive.

He rang his manager up to say he had tested positive for covid and his managers reply was "that's okay, as long as you are up to working it's not as problem"

My lad was like "Yeah I feel okay but I've got covid"

His manager then said "Royal Mail protocol is that you can still come to work as long as you have all windows open on the van (they do the rounds as a pair so there would be two of them in the van) and wipe everything down"

My lads to his manager "What about our customers, I am going to be handing parcels etc over to them and talking to them, surely they should be a priority'

His manager then got a weed on and put the phone down. Later this afternoon his manager text him to say he needed to come in for a meeting, my lad said "Yeah, I'll come in and see you when I test negative"

Next thing is the union rep who works at his depot rang my lad coming out with a load of bullshit (I actually thought union reps were meant to be looking out for the workers and not towing company line) to cut a long story short we're now worried they could sack him, my lads not arsed because in his opinion he's doing the right thing, so, if they did try and sack him could he take them to a tribunal for unfair dismissal?

Dunno what the rules are but people would be pretty pissed if they knew their postman was positive and still delivering mail. Think it’s the right thing to do whatever the outcome.

What my lad says mate, it doesn't matter what Royal Mail say, he doesn't like the idea that he could be delivering mail/ parcels to people who like his grandparents catching covid could be serious.

Your lad is definitely on the right side here, whether it’s the guidance or not. Ridiculous that the union rep isn’t helping him out. Hope it all works out ok for him. Imagine there is a lot of this going on now given all the restrictions have been thrown out the window

A bloke on another forum I’m on wrote this “Apart from the latest variant of Covid being more contagious I found out today another reason why cases are on the rise. One of the employees at my local Costa is working despite having tested positive for Covid. She was told by Costa that there was no requirement for her to work from home as there was now no law saying she had to!!”

This will be happening more and more and good on your son for having a conscience and saying "no, it isn't right".

Moving forward, best thing for anyone to do once they test positive is just turn around and say they don't feel well otherwise their work/bosses will just trot out the line "well if your positive but well enough to work, you work".

True mate but with the scourge of zero hour contracts and with many companies not offering sick pay it isn't something a lot of people will be able to do with ease.

Ugh. It looks like I have finally caught it. Started with a bit of a sniffle on Friday. Now have fatigue, bit is soreness in the throat and muscle aches. Not horrendous though so far. Not sure if I am now through the worst of it. Trying to summon the energy to get up for breakfast and take a test
In my recent experience it seems to either develop into a pretty grim 2nd phase or just go away.

Only seeing this. I have an LLB from Trinity College Dublin but I didn't study Labour Law. However I was a union representative all of my Civil Service career.

He needs to get a GP cert in. Serious mistake to say he feels ok. This virus takes its time and is very transmissible. People may think they are fine and then they are hammered when they think they are grand.
