Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Oh come on mate we know how the rodeo goes:

First its mulling, pondering, considering, weighing up (like Everton in the transfer market) a 3rd/4th/5th booster shot for the most vulnerable/elderly - said cohort gets jab - media/scientists announce how utterly amazing antibodies are produced and then said shot gets offered to over 50's then over 40's etc. and its never ending trying to battle "case numbers".

I dont have a problem with the elderly/most vulnerable getting annual jabs if needed its the constant BS the media churn out that if a 21 year old doesn't get his booster he's as good as being unvaccinated and will be dead within 12 months that winds me up.

Particularly when as I shown earlier the jabs are not without risk themselves therefore shouldn't be given out like skittles to anyone and everyone so frequently unless absolutely necessary.
I really don't understand what is so controversial or hard to grasp. We've had annual flu "booster jabs" for yonks and it's required because flu typically mutates on an annual basis. I reckon I must be up to my 10th "booster" of the flu vaccine by now. The Covid virus is mutating much faster as there are more cases (due in part to the number of unvaccinated people, especially globally), and so should this continue to happen then it seems inevitable that there will be more "boosters" as we try and keep up.

"Would you like this year's flu jab sir?"
"No madam, I had it in 1997, that's good enough for me"
"But sir, flu has evolved since then so your vaccine from then won't really help you now"
"STOP TRYING TO PUT ME IN A CAMP ALONGSIDE THE FATTIES YOU NAZI!!!!!!!!"

No, im saying the vaccine is weak very weak.
Why are we all anticipating and fearing the worst regarding restrictions/lockdowns after having around 90% of the country vaccinated? It shouldn't even be considered if the vaccine was any good, and yet we have internet idiots screaming 'get jabbed you morons' to people whilst they sit there done in with covid after being trippled jabbed.
Well, we do know without the vaccines the admission and mortality rates would be significantly higher. So yeah, they’re not perfect, but they’re helping.

1.9 million Covid deaths in 2020 worldwide when there was no vaccines

5.4 million today 2021 that’s an increase of 3.5million in 12 months with a vaccine

Vaccines boss innit

Genuinely not sure if this is just trolling or not. If it’s not, this could be the worst selection and reading of data to draw a conclusion I’ve seen in nearly 2 years of the pandemic.

That's not what I'm saying mate, im saying the effectiveness of the vaccine is questionable.
Check out the number of daily deaths related to COVID and you will find your answer.

Vaccines work - they stop you dying from COVID.

The majority of people admitted to hospitals lately with COVID are aged between 20-35 and are unvaccinated. This includes my cousin who aged 30 was admitted yesterday with COVID and is apparently in a bad way.

She was unvaccinated.

Probably because there were rumours it would happen? If there weren’t rumours we wouldn’t think it might happen would we like for most of 2021.

Hope your cousin recovers. Such a shame that these conspiracy theories about the vaccines are still going around. The sad reality is it's often too late when they make the realisation that they should have taken them.

I have COVID - again. Great :)

Woke up feeling wiped out this morning - bit of a sore throat (had this for nearly 2 weeks now though so no shock there), body aches and fatigue, which is what was the worst bit in the summer, but nowhere near as bad as that I must say.

Tested myself, managed to have a lemsip and get back to sleep for another two hours. Woke up feeling a ton better in terms of the lemsip getting rid of the sore throat, and aches have gone, but there's a very thin line next to the T on the lateral flow.

Ah well, at least I got Christmas in ffs lol

Edit: And for anyone who doesn't know I am double vaccinated, had COVID (what I assume was Delta) in July, and was due my booster tomorrow, which I've now had to cancel.

Scientists who keep learning and adjusting their thinking based on new knowledge of what is largely a new virus. I do struggle a bit with your posts mate, as they always seem to take the form of "I do as I'm told and do believe in it, but..."
Well I am doing as I'm told. Getting my booster - well I'm not getting it tomorrow as I planned as now I need to push it back again. Wearing masks. Testing pretty much daily.

It's been here 2 years now and we had Prof Ferguson's group predicting 6,000 deaths per day two weeks ago. And yes, I know that was a worst-case scenario. Doesn't mean I can't call it out as being bulls***. You don't need a PHD to think that it was mad.

All I said is I think it's fine to have doubts if - and it is a big if - they introduce vaccines for the whole population every few months. That's the point @ForeverBlue92 made in his post and it's what I reacted to.
