it isn't "just a cold" for the vaccinated either pete - just had it, it was a bad flu (one day of being ruined, five or six days of complete rest (whilst isolating) to recover)

tbf my mates in London have just had it/have still got it and have been absolutely fine.

Some of them have already had COVID, all of them vaccinated and or boosted.

Really does depend on a case to case basis, as it has done all along with little rhyme or reason tbh.

Just giving yourself the best protection, through healthy living and vaccines, is a good approach to hoping you're one of the cases that shrugs it off.

To be fair, it is strongly recommended by medical professionals to get vaccinated.

It's social media where the anti vaccine cranks gain traction.

And I think the point with lateral flows is that you can open the packet, scan the code and say you are negative without even doing the test.

I do think this is a problem with the system. The system needs to be tweaked so you have to submit a time/date stamped photo of the negative result to go alongside it.

How are they upsetting them? by deciding what they put in their body, the old ones sound selfish to me, if they have been vaccinated they shouldn’t be worrying.

Problem with that is that it is very easy to fake a result too. So even a timestamped photo of a negative test requires trust in the people taking the test. Agree it would be better than simply scanning a code but people that would just scan the code would just move to not doing the test properly and then sending in the photo.

I imagine the amount of these people would be quite small though so would still be better than nothing.

I’m glad that Boris has not imposed additional restrictions, however I would have been very happy to insist all bars, restaurants etc impose a Covid passport. That would have encouraged people to get the vaccine and would have kept the anti vaxxers away from our vulnerable customers……

I think the idea that having the vaccine means you don't have the virus has to be consigned to the past. It's untrue and dangerous, and in covid terms I'm amazed anyone thinks it's a good enough reason to go in someone from a purely stopping spread perspective. It clearly doesn't- the Metro article I posted earlier talks about triple vaccinated NHS staff being off ill with it. Surely that's the indisputable end of that argument without an actual sterilising vaccine.

The only health benefit of a vaccine only passport is stopping those not fully vaccinated getting it and going to hospital. Those who like their manipulation would argue it convinces people to get vaccinated but that side of it isn't for me

Yes there are problems with the testing option and it'll probably be removed, but it'll be to convince people to take it. I doubt they'll look at actually creating a decent system

It was just about my opinion on it Bruce. I won't judge anyone else on what they chose to do if they get the vaccine or not. I think everyone should have at least two jabs because that at least is the basic level of protection from the vaccines.

If the vaccines only last 3 months... then we need better vaccines.

As a caveat, would you not consider that in 2020 we had multiple, long-lasting full lock downs that enforced social distancing compared to a freer 2021?

From what I've read, there was approximately ninety million cases in 2020 compared to nearly 210 million in 2021 with more deadly variants taking precedent?

So, it's not a simple comparison.

So, it's not a simple comparison.

Also we were only really dealing with covid for 8 months of 2020. That coupled with extensive lockdowns is obviously going to lead to less cases. No one could really travel in 2020 either. Situations are very different
