yeah I agree
then again they're locking down across Europe with high vaccination rates too...

Not being conspiracy or anything, just - governments don't know what else to do it seems.
I still think it's all about the strain on the health service. Fingers crossed the boom in cases doesn't lead to a boom in admissions.
Get jabbed and you're less likely to be admitted. That should be enough of an incentive. I'd hate to be in a hospital at the moment.

Amazing isn‘t it. Not arsed if it’s someone else’s family but deeply concerned when closer to home…..
well I don't think he meant it like that tbf

He got the jabs, but his main reason for doing it was other people, not himself, and that probably goes to show the attitude athletes have, because given how fit/strong they have to be (unless they play for Everton) they're confident they can handle covid (rightly or wrongly)

yeah I agree mate, every adult/young adult should get it who is eligible imo

Some people just aren’t likely to be admitted from covid at all. Some people are more likely to be admitted from side effects of the vaccine than covid itself.

I admittedly haven’t read all the posts in this back and forth but if I caught the start correctly, you’re opposed to getting the vaccine. Actually curious why that is. You think it’s segregation if unvaccinated people aren’t permitted to go to certain places, yet you’re ok getting a vaccine to travel to a country that requires one because you wanted to go there. You don’t want to be excluded from going anywhere because it’s fascist, yet the whole lockdown thing even being considered is largely because of the unvaccinated population which essentially excludes everyone from doing anything. Honestly, I respect your right to choose not to get a vaccine, but I have no issue if it’s a pre req to enjoy some of the privileges of society given if everyone just got the vax we wouldn’t have to worry about situations where no one got to enjoy them. At this point unless you have a legitimate medical or religious reason to not be vaccinated, with all science to now back them up, I do find your stance here somewhat selfish and self serving.

Erm, no it isn’t?

You are living in an absolute fantasy world if you think 100% of the population being vaccinated would stop lockdowns and restrictions.

Erm, considering one of the biggest issues that leads to lockdowns and restrictions is the strain on the healthcare system, and vaccination drastically reduces the rate of admissions (17x), yea it would largely reduce any likelihood of lockdown. Would it eradicate the disease? No. Would it solve our biggest issues? It sure would help and it’s ridiculous to say it wouldn’t.

It’s just like the people who fail to understand that freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from the consequences of that speech. You don’t get to just go around spouting off racial slurs in public and expect there not to be some ramifications.

I’m with you. By all means, allow people to choose, but actually enforcing the vaccine passports will make people factor in the things they’re going to miss out on as a result of their decision not to do their part.

Spicy in here tonight, and I’d been watching a comedy gig online and missed it all. Typical. Bit of right on right violence as well, which shows how divisive it all is.

My twopenneth worth. The ‘vaccine sceptical‘ seem to point to the ‘well, vaccinated people can pass it on as well’ argument. ‘Isn’t it better for me to have a negative test, rather than be vaccinated’.

This type of argument works on an individual level, but we need to think about pandemics at a population level. Not, ‘how to ensure people aren’t individually covid free on a day to day basis‘, but ‘how do we systematically lower the risk of infection, transmission and risk of serious illness at a population level’. The only way to do that is through herd immunity, either via natural immunity or vaccination.

We’re all gonna come into contact with the virus, if we haven’t already, so the question is - how much immunity do you want when you do come into contact with it?

Maybe day trips to covid wards for the unvaccinated? Get em infected, and get us to herd immunity?

(This is a joke, but ultimately, this is the endgame of the pandemic. Once we’ve ALL come into contact with it, and built up immunity individually, and as a collective herd).

You are espousing fascist views Pete. History never looks back kindly on that type.
History is full of examples of authoritarian tactics that would never otherwise be tolerated being employed during pandemics. Incoming ships were quarantined for forty days in the run up to the last bubonic plague outbreak in England, for all the good it ultimately did.

I honestly don't see why anyone should have an option when it comes to vaccination, unless they're immunocompromised or otherwise medically unable to tolerate it. If you gathered a group of people and went around disrupting a hospital's activities, we'd lock you up for endangering public welfare. The unvaccinated are producing the same result through different means at the moment.
