Have had a sore throat for a few days, no other symptoms. Guy at work took a test and it was positive, so to be safe I went for PCR yesterday and it came back positive today.

Had next week booked off as holiday, so isolation finishes just in time for me to go back to work after xmas.

Awesome.

I’d be telling work I caught it at the end of my holiday if I was in that situation.

We are doing imo the most sensible solution to the travel issue which is 2-day PCR tests to release. Keep in mind that travellers also have to test 2 days before travel to the UK, so you are covering a four-day span there

I do care about case numbers, because more cases = more likelihood more people end up in hospital.

But with Omicron, we know that case numbers will spike massively because of how transmissable it is. However, based on SA data and the early data from Denmark and Norway, who are 5-7 days ahead of the UK, the hospitalisations should not spike to unmanageable levels.

However, we won't know for sure until probably next week

I'm not really into all that, I just think it's petty.

There's no doubt Germany, France, Netherlands are playing politics. They always do. They don't like us. Meh, I don't think anything needs to be retaliated. Just play it sensibly with sensible rules that don't stop people having basic freedoms.

In the same boat potentially here, boss has tested positive on an LFT, had fever / sore throat. She is just awaiting the PCR test results. I’ve got a sore throat and fatigue but tested negative on an LFT, just waiting for PCR test (done today) to come back on Monday or Tuesday.

do you live with family so they'd at least be able to see you over Xmas? (since they can just daily test if they're sensible and keep distance)

10 days isolation for a sore throat, this is what the world has come to...

It's mad. Absolutely friggin mad.

I tested negative again today on LF. That's 5 successive days. Over the last three days I had every symptom of Omicron - which are exactly the same symptoms of a cold.

I'm pretty fine now. Just one more day of laying low/resting and I should be back to normal by Monday.

It could be Omicron, it could be a cold. I'll probably never know.

Really wish that the 'Hospital Admissions' daily data included a breakdown which stated whether the 'primary cause of hospitalisation' was Covid.

I think the figures would be a whole lot less terrifying in this current 'wave'

They do a split out weekly but agree that a daily figure would be more helpful. This is the latest info I’ve seen for London
