You wouldn't bother your arse to go to the pub if its closing at 5, You might do for 8pm and then get a bag of cans or a bottle of vermouth and go back to a mates.
Its not about the science around a microorganism, its about trying to reduce social interactions and the spread of said microorganisms.
If we started at the end of Aug mate, we would have had the most vulnerable covered over the whole of flu season, Sep - March. Aug is when we announced our booster health care programme woukd begin. I was one of the first cohorts to get the first boosters, it was Nov, we were massively complacent and lax and Omicron pulled our pants down and here we are.
See that’s the thing we need more creative thinking around vaccinating especially going forward, it’s very possible to have two vaccination programmes running at the same time. We’re about to do it with boosters and paediatric vaccines. In fact we know this virus is going to be problematic Oct - March 2022, we should be planning already to have 50s and over vaccinated with a 4th dose by the end of Sep 22.

Completely disagree, you can go back to your mates at 5pm too but the difference is 5pm makes trade completely impossible. Either way the rule is an absolute joke on the same level as the substantial meal rule.
Could be mate, I still don’t buy it, think it was camouflage and politicking, my opinion mind.
There is no science behind it mate, it’s arbitrary, the message is don’t go out there is a risk, but it’s up to you, we know you’re all p’eed off!

With the 5pm rule they should close them basically if there is science behind it. Even with 8pm they arguably should close them. Places are safe to operate with measures or they're not. Time shouldn't really be a factor - if time is a factor do a limited time per group in the pub or restaurant.
I appear to have got a different booster - no chance I could raise my arm like that afterwards even before considerimg fitting into that bikini
Thats the idea I presume. If pubs were open until 8 - which would be 9 or 9.30pm in reality they will be rammed. The Christmas eve pints are a right of passage in Ireland.
I have absolutely no faith in this government btw.
There is no science behind it mate, the time in arbitrary. Well we all know it’s not safe mate. But it’s up to you if you want to take a risk.
Take the U.K., you know your not safe in the pub, but you still have a choice to go or not. We do to, the Government are just disincentivizing it really.
I probably won’t bother I’ll have a few friends around home for drinks in the house and do the antigen test thing. That’s probably the idea here to be honest. Have smaller groups meeting in individual locations, rather then big crowds all in the one setting.

Aye but business won’t collapse, people will need to be creative.
Regarding social contact, we have a 30min- 1 hour team meeting every morning and will regularly Skype with colleagues throughout the day. I prefer it. Better than forced chat with some bloater about the best Man United strike partnership,
They've never removed the business supports for businesses affected by restrictions. Workers dont have as much support as initially tbf and thats not right.
We've basically a tory-lite government here.
