Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Seen various sources saying 1m cases a day in the UK of the new variant before the end of December. Quite a lofty prediction considering South Africa are only on 22,000 cases per day and it started there.

Not one of their doomsday predictions has been right, not one.

You`d have thought that by now, they`d have learnt to temper their predictions, with caveats such as " this is the absolute worst case scenario ".

Instead they keep churning out their end of days stuff and the press jump all over it

I think they did caveat by saying if they carry on doubling every 2 days but let's face it that's only going to happen to a certain point and then it will slow dramatically.

I mean what’s the actual source of it, it’s just a screenshot without context that can be checked.

I’ve done some digging though and think the data may be from this report here:

… which if so is pretty bad, as by posting that screenshot alone it has stripped out all the context in the report about why vaccines are important

I was just asking the question as it is confusing, I didn’t think anyone would read all 47 pages of the document.

I think it meant a million in total mate from first case to year end on the ones I seen.

Remember this time last year when you had to buy scran to have a bevvy?

Mad times them, we went on our lads night out and could only drink if we had food on the table. We were sat for a few hours with half eaten hotdogs on plates in front of us.

It’s almost as if the rules were complete bollox.

And a two hour slot at the table, that you got around by swapping tables every two hours and taking your half eaten food with you lol

Therein lies the problem really - so many people apparently think this can be boiled down to yes/no, good/bad issue and they’ve ended up down really weird rabbit holes (together with really dodgy people) as a result.

And here we are, millions upon millions on vaccines later and we are not far away from the bollox happening again.

But it’s all conflicting information, added to that conflicting rules from the start and you can see why people are confused / bored of it.

The one you produced is from the government's website, yes the same government that cant speak or publish the truth.
