How about, how long would you be prepared to accept restrictions for, a year, five years, forever ?

We were all told get doubled jabbed and you`ll be sorted, then it changed to you need to get triple jabbed and you`ll be sorted. Then lo and behold a new variant came along and they`re now talking about a load more restrictions again and possibly a fourth jab, to combat the new variant.

What happens when the next " new " variant comes along after this one, possibly a fifth jab and a load more restrictions and on and on it goes.

We can`t carry on living like this.

I was out with my crazy mate, who didn`t come out for the best part of 18mths and he`s talking about locking him and his family away again. This is what it`s doing to people.

Again, the fact this virus exists and poses the risk that it does means that we have to deal with it - so yes, when the variants keep coming we will keep having to do something about them. I know its difficult for people, it was difficult for people in wartime too but burying your head in the sand is useless.

To suggest it's a lack of staff driving mental health problems is frankly ridiculous, people had to jump through hoops to get treatment for cancers etc which has caused lots of deaths, all due to restrictions not a lack of staff. Hospitals on the whole have coped throughout the pandemic, even the early stages. Those mega nightingale's never even getting used and are now disbanded, would they have done that if hospitals were at breaking point?

The Nightingale hospitals didn't have the staff to run them, that is why they weren't used. As for mental health, what I said is backed up by the BMA and numerous other sources; why do you think those restrictions were brought in anyway?

If they close schools early for Christmas then they won't reopen for months so any suggestion of that is a non runner, you know full well if they close on say the Friday before they are due to close then come the end of the holidays you'll have Tony the ego Hohohan on a semi telling the government that they need to stay closed as case numbers are too high..

Nah i dont agree with that mate, i think there is a perhaps blind political and public health will perhaps to keep schools open and minimise the very obvious risk we haven't managed sufficiently. Besides i think in reality i think we can keep schools open with better mitigation. Again its not all or nothing - closing or keeping open its managing better and creating the space to do it

Probably something to keep in mind when we are talking about the "unvaccinated" a lot our expectant mothers to be with concerns.

You can do better. These are 'please god let this thing stay part of our lives otherwise people won't read what we post' people.

In 2019's world no one would bother reading about virus and such on twitter. They hate going back to that.

I`m not burying my head in the sand mate, I just know that from what I see and hear around me, that by and large, the only people who are taking a blind bit of notice anymore, are older people and people who are at risk.

I know that`s not what you want to hear, but that`s certainly the way it is around by me.

Do you honestly think, that if they tried to bring another lockdown, people would abide by it ??????????

For as long as we need to - as long as this virus is causing what it is, we need to make sensible decisions or we will keep having the problems you claim to be so concerned about.
LOL a virus that is a mild infection in the vast majority of people requires draconian measures and the potential collapse of economics around the world to save mostly, already very sick people from dying. Health systems need a functional economy.Screenshot_20211204-123637_Chrome.webp

LOL yeah its hilarious isn't it? 700+ people dead in a week, thousands more gasping for breath on ventilators in hospitals. Most hilariously of all not all of them are very elderly people.

In fact, lets stuff even more people in hospitals because of "the economy", even though if we did that the cost to everyone - personal, economic - would almost certainly be far worse.

Most people probably would - I think most people still recognize this is a problem.

They'd be angry about it (and they should, as I've said ad infinitum before lockdowns are a consequence of the failure of this governments policy) but whilst this thing really is knocking people on their arses, really is hospitalizing people and really is killing people in considerable numbers most people will act accordingly. There is also the not inconsiderable problem of what the alternative that the "economy" crowd want is - I mean, if we "get back to normal" then are you going to let COVID-positive people go back to work whilst they are positive? Are you going to punish them if they do or don't? If someone at your work - employee, visitor, customer etc - gets it from one of those people, what is the legal position going to be?

We will still have the tits who insist this isn't real, often whilst they try to sell you magic honey / salt / CBD / mud and they'll still generate far more smoke than fire but enough people have had it or know someone whose had it badly enough to overcome that.

The source is HSPC i.e. the official Irish Health Service mate, the women herself is front line heath care. We should ignore these sources, but click in here to listen to people give out about masks.

You should focus on the actual source then mate. These people most often than not fake their job on twitter to get attention. Always check their join date and follower counts.

Why? if someone is reporting accurate data form a verified source why not share it, its only the vehicle to the data. I dont get your annoyance or reasons for it. All media genreally doesnt come from the primary source does it. Its not like the women is saying they found cheese on the moon. She is citing her source.

I went to two city centre pub/bars today. I was the only person in one of them and the other had one group of 3, yet town was heaving.

Christmas parties aside, it looks like the damage has already been done with no support
