The agency is looking measures such as narrowing the testing window for travelers into the country and adding quarantine requirements in certain cases, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said Tuesday on a call with reporters. It’s also expanding surveillance programs at four major airports to test for Covid from specific international arrivals.

Looking at the data around Europe, it’s becoming increasingly clear that infection amongst children and their parents is playing a big role in the European Surge. Governments s really need to look at how they are mitigating risk of primary infection in children and secondary infection in adults, through their contact with children.

If you want a lockdown, and I don't mean this in an awful way, but act like you're in one. Stay at home, only go out for one hour of exercise, order your shopping online etc.
That way, you can be content and happy in the knowledge you've done what you wanted to be enforced.
Read today that they're hoping Omicron early signs show that if this becomes the dominant strain, it's a good sign that the virus is waning.
As ever still initial data but positivity jumping up this fast isn’t great news re Omicron transmission rate
That transmission rate is pretty grim but we need to know how it translates into hospitalisations, deaths. Hopefully this information will come soon and we have the best people working on it.
Edit: and of course what the vaccine breakthrough is as South Africa has pretty low vaccine rates if I remember correctly.
