Nah, your playing fast and loose with consent and rights mate, while wanting to have your cake and eat it. Face covering is less invasive and you wouldn't do it but happy enough for someone to be injected against their will, i dont think you see of really understand the ethic of it beyond the practical implications. Vaccine mandate the whole country - if people want to be citizens they have a moral responsibility for the greater good - or at least wear a face covering, its the same principle if you are going to be interacting with vulnerable people in wider society.

Well technically you cant stop being a Doctor you just keep your registration going, or go out on stress leave, you can always decide not to work for the NHS, there is always private healthcare & practice and the whole world is looking for Doctors & other HCP's.

lol

I haven't once said I don't think the government can do this. I disagree with it, I'll disobey it, but they have every right to do it.

Again, you're proper missing the point.

In that case, masks mandates should stay in place forever, along with social distancing, to 'make people feel better'. It's no longer related to the actual situation and is a massive ongoing placebo.

If that's the 'new normal' and you've bought into that, God help us.

I was fine with it being voluntary - I did/do it. I understand it. I was fine with a mandate when it was a legit emergency situation at the height of all this when hospitality was shut down and we were in lockdowns etc.

But I simply do not understand a half arsed mandate which is neither here nor there.
I haven't bought into any of it really. I think masks should be optional and I am very against restrictions at this point. This is all being very exagerrated in my opinion, there is absolutely no need for panic.

I was just commenting because masks in hospitality is completely impractical and wont work. Masks in just supermarkets and transport is a lot better than the full mask mandate you suggested. I'd prefer fully optional but I'll take this over mask enforcement in all areas.

Then why not shut everywhere till it's fully safe to not wear a mask anywhere anymore, including shops, transport etc? The moment you think about 'but economy,' the emergency feel of this disappears...

This is binary thinking - either shut everything down or throw everything open. Whereas actually the situation is a huge spectrum of potential measures with differing effects.

As for the bold, it doesn’t disappear at all. The economy has always played a huge part in pandemic decision making. This is the argument that lockdown sceptics have made since day 1.

I dont think im suggesting you are challenging leglitive framework but applying different morality to similar situation and showing hypocrisy as it applies to you.

lol, Strap a mask on their like a good man for the greater good or you can cease being a citizen, dont be worrying about your human rights and consent. lol

Haha again, I'm accepting - fully - that if I disobey a mask mandate and get questioned I'll have the consequences of it.

You aren't. You think being mandated to be vaccinated for a profession is a breach of your human rights. I don't think being mandated to wear a mask in a shop is a breach of my human rights. I merely think it's stupid, because the mandate isn't wide enough for it to be anything other than a token placebo measure.

Therein lies the core difference. My position is entirely consistent.
