Just had a look there, think NI will have to have a hybrid acceptance of EU and their own pass. NI citizens who hold Rep of Irish passports - which are many, if not the majority, were allowed to apply for EU Covid Cert through the Rep of Ireland Goverment, so likely there are Significant number in the north with EU passes already, especially I’d say in the border counties. Maybe you can already upload it onto the NI Covid App!

Researchers at Monash University and the University of Edinburgh say multi-faceted measures, such as lockdowns and closures of borders, schools and workplaces need further analysis to assess their potential negative effects on populations.

Public health or non-pharmaceutical interventions are known to be beneficial in fighting respiratory infections like flu, and countries around the world have tried using them to curb the spread of Covid.

However, until now, reviews have not been robust enough to allow experts to make firm conclusions about the effectiveness of such measures in tackling Covid.

Results from more than 30 studies from around the world were analysed in detail, showing a statistically significant 53% reduction in the incidence of Covid with mask wearing and a 25% reduction with physical distancing.

Masks are still required indoors and on public transport

What’s the deal with the Covid pass pal? I’m heading up to Belfast a few weeks before Xmas, will they accept the EU passes?

EU Covid cert is fine for here, have seen it being used and have used it myself cross border.

For interest, the new NI digital cert has 2 parts; Travel and Domestic.

You do know that pre-covid the UK on average had 1,500 deaths per day.

How many of the 100+ were actually killed by Covid and not just died within 28 days of testing positive?

Restrictions on the freedoms of vaccinated people are not justified or proportionate steps in my opinion. It is also making people doubt the effectiveness of the vaccines at a time when we are trying to encourage more to come forward!

This is what happens when people obsess over case numbers. And it’s why people on the whole don’t care anymore. Imagine trying to convince your normal civilian that vaccines were the the way to return to normality but then you move the goalposts whereby they are no longer enough and you’re still expected to wear masks and socially distance after being vaccinated.

Also somewhere like Gibraltar really exposes the flaws in a vaccine passport system. Either make testing mandatory or don’t bother with any restrictions. If I cared about feeling safe I would much rather know everyone at a location had tested negative than if they’d been vaccinated when it comes to transmission of the virus.

If the vaccine works well they shouldn't need lockdown measures when the population are 100% vaccinated.

This is especially true. I had attended vaccinated / PCR negative only events, it was eye opening, people were like covid never existed, then a lot of people got sick of course. So vaccine passports do the opposite indeed of what it intended.

Unfortunately reality doesn’t care for your feelings - to contain this sort of thing, certain measures have to be adopted.

What Gibraltar have done appears to be sensible, there’s no point pretending this thing or the threat it still represents doesn’t exist. These are serious times and they demand serious efforts to contain them.
