Sobering really. I really could not bare a further lockdown. Interesting that the U.K. daily case numbers have flattened. I was expecting a bigger number today with it being a Tuesday. I wonder if the U.K. might have a greater % of natural immunity then most of Europe allowing us to to ride out the winter without restrictions. Feels unlikely and it is just a matter of time before the line starts to rise again
Interesting breakdown in coverage, Ireland protected slighly more of vulnerable to hospitalization but Portugal a bit more of younger age groups that typically have more social contacts and therefore potential to spread.
Latest ONS estimates was around 90% of population of UK have some antibodies (either through vaccination or natural exposure) and that should really help.
If there is a high take up of boosters, especially among the most vulnerable, that would also make restrictions less likely.
The last two years has done mad things to people's brains. Fear.
The media need to stop pushing for restrictions. There is no widespread support for them. Let us live our lives and stop trying to limit our freedoms. 90% of the population is vaccinated because the public supported the vaccine roll out in huge numbers. Why aren't we focusing on that.

No expert at all, but from my general experience, I usually get a bad cold Sept/Oct and then again Jan/Feb. These things happen in waves and I suspect the line will start to climb again mid winter. Hopefully with the vaccines it doesn't climb to critical levels.

It was meant to sound that way because it was in response to the idea that if everyone was vaccinated we'd have no talk of restrictions - the constant demonising and scapegoating of a section of society is very very worrying and now it's ramping up again I'm convinced we're heading down a dark path..
I still think we're going to be testing the theory out, these sorts of measures tend to have a way of slowly spreading through the Western countries once they start. I'm guessing to be seen to do something the government will be "cancelling Christmas" for those without the vaccine here. Though it's unenforceable because we don't have enough police which is the only time that is a positive...
For me, as I'll be becoming unvaccinated again when I don't get my booster, I'll be locking myself down also if/when these measures come in. You only have as many rights as those with the least in society. Same for not using the covid pass if it goes vaccine only (and I feel bad enough using it now).
You’re assuming that the media care about reflecting public opinion and not just pushing their own twisted agenda there.
I had been avoiding the news as much as possible recently and feeling far better for it. Made the mistake of watching it this morning. There is hardly ever anything positive.
I avoid BBC altogether now. If it’s not lockdown porn it’s browbeating the general public over climate change, I can’t take anymore of it.

I know 0 people in my life that support another lockdown. Where are you getting your polls from?
I don't know one person who wants another lockdown. Maybe that's just the social circles I'm in, but I genuinely don't know anyone, not even my parents or grandparents. The vast majority of people I know, of all sorts of ages, think we are vaccinated so we need to live our lives.
I don't take those polls very seriously either. People give the answers they think people want them to say. There's a lot of answers based on what people think others should do but they wouldn't actually want to do it themselves.
I saw one poll that said like 30% of the population thought schools should be shut. If that's true then what on earth has happened to this country. I just can't take it seriously.
My sister is an NHS nurse and is as anti-lockdown as you can get.
