The quicker the better. Best to start him on the right treatment if required. The biggest sign when to phone the ambulance is if he struggling to breath.

Wish you the best of luck.

Not sure if this is the best advice but maybe give NHS Direct a call and explain his situation and his current symptoms.

As @Blueclouds said, the sooner the better in his circumstances. Hope it all goes ok mate

Give the NHS line a call and give them as much info as possible and get some advice WB. Rather be over cautious, to be on the safe side.

Thank you. On hold atm. Keep asking him about his breathing but he’s stubborn and I worry he’ll only say “yes I need an ambulance” when it’s a bit too late.

Hopefully you’ll get good advice from them mate and if they say to do it then just call one for him. No time for stubbornness. I imagine I would be exactly the same as him. Sometimes you need someone to make the call for you.

Fingers crossed he doesn’t need it though. Hope it all goes ok

Astounding... Not!

I might be wrong but this isn’t new information. We’ve known for a while that vaccinated people have high viral loads when infected. The most important thing is that you are less likely to catch it if you are vaxxed. And of course less likely to get seriously ill

Not sure I get your logic. If you have a bar full of vaxxed people, they might infect each other but won't get sick enough to overburden the health system.

Thats the thing, passports protect the unvaxed as well, as if they dont have entry they are less likely to be infected, thus breaking the chain of infection and minmising hospitaisations as the unvxed have an 88% greater chance of significant illness as opposed to someone vaxed, there is a middle ground there with antigen testing for the unvaxed to, if you wanted to go down that route. I think ratios in hospital in most countries are in and around 20% vaccinated and 80% not.

Hope your dad's doing ok mate. I've mentioned this previously as well in this thread, if your mum and dad haven't got one, tell them to get an oximeter. You can pick one up for £20.00.

Be amazed how easy it is for your breathing to go shallow and you don't realise its happening when your unwell and it'll just give you an early sign that oxygen levels aren't what they should be.

This is excellent advice. My cousin is a nurse and when my aunt and uncle contracted COVID last April, she left an oximeter with them and would periodically call them. My aunt was fine but my uncle’s oxygen levels got quite low. At this point, he went to the hospital and recovered after about 5 days there.
But long story short, pulse oximeter very helpful to have
