France, some figures today from the"tous anti covid " app.
Vaccinations. 49.68M or 86.5% of the population over 12y have had at least 2jabs.
New cases yesterday, 6528.
ic occupancy, all France, 6528 including 61 new admissions yesterday.
During the period 18/24oct, France had 54.2 new cases per 100k population.
UK had 488 newcases per 100k population.
Masks plus distancing plus health certificates plus vaccinations are all needed against this infection.

Was going to post case incidence ratios per 100k, its really stark between the UK and the rest of Europe, its the smoking gun in terms of mitigation measures including masks.

Comparatively to the rest of Europe, UK not managing living with Covid well.

Its important to distinguish figures in regard to hospitalizations have to be seen through the prism of the unvaccinated, most figures around are showing 8% unvaccinated and 20% vaccinated in terms of profile of admissions.

France has a case instance rate of 6% the UK is 66% per 100.000k.

We are coping with it fine. Everything is back to normal. We don't care about case numbers. We have decided its here to stay and we need to crack on

Pretty much what the world has decided and is doing mate, there is no where really not open now in any country albeit with greater mitigation measures like passports/masks etc.

The scale of infection in the UK is comparatively stark compared to the rest of Europe and its unnecessary. So logic dictates that the difference of mitigation between the UK and Europe, that there is correlation between loose mitigation policy and high infection rates, as the UKs mitigation policy's would be lightest in Europe. Might have been ok or static in the summer (although still comparatively high) via initial exponential growth, but winter is a different story.

Just seems silly not to have things in place now, its unnecessary.

It's not silly. At some point u have to draw a line in the sand and get back to normality.

Its actually really silly, its like driving rally in Daytona without a helmet or a seatbelt.

Mate, there is nothing going on in the UK that not going on in the rest of the world - we are just lashing on a mask and showing our phones when we go in the pub, its of zero inconvenience. Its the difference between 6k cases in France and 50k in the UK, with the UK with a higher vaccine profile.

But case numbers are not unrelated to hospitalization and deaths - if those reach a certain level you can’t “crack on” as a society can’t function well without a functioning health service.

It is very important that case numbers in the over 60s need to stop growing.

Could do with advice if anyone can offer it.

My father tested positive a few days ago. He’s double jabbed but over 70 and on dialysis (at home). This evening he’s really starting to struggle. At what point can I phone an ambulance?

My Mum is now very ill also but is a bit younger and just in bed unwell so far. No underlying health issues.

The quicker the better. Best to start him on the right treatment if required. The biggest sign when to phone the ambulance is if he struggling to breath.

Wish you the best of luck.

Not sure if this is the best advice but maybe give NHS Direct a call and explain his situation and his current symptoms.

As @Blueclouds said, the sooner the better in his circumstances. Hope it all goes ok mate

Give the NHS line a call and give them as much info as possible and get some advice WB. Rather be over cautious, to be on the safe side.
