When I've been to the theatre or to concerts since things have reopened there has been a requirement to wear masks throughout. Indeed, I've got tickets to Wagner in a bit and the ENO are recommending a face covering for the whole 5 hour performance
Yes. Pretty much the same here in Washington, DC. My wife took the kids to an event this past weekend and masks were required. To be honest, we are used to it since there is an indoor mask mandate in our county.
Hope this isn’t too far off-topic, but what Wagner opera are you attending?
Years ago, during my grad school years, I was a research assistant for a professor who was working on a book about Wagner

It conflates with your prior assertion that wearing a face mask would encourage more reckless behaviour. Instead, wearing a face mask was associated with more responsible behaviour. It also shows that a face covering can be crucial if you're unable to follow other social measures (such as social distancing), which given the high prevalence of spread in schools, for instance, may also be good to consider.

Yeah it's associated in more responsible behaviour in those who choose to wear them. That's not a shock.

But forcing people to wear them won't change behaviours of those pre-disposed to be morons, and indeed it'll prompt a sizeable amount of them to be more reckless. That's my belief and that study doesn't change that as it doesn't address that; instead it's simply saying the obvious, that those prone to wear masks voluntarily are in general going to be multitudes less likely to catch COVID, as they are correspondingly multitudes less stupid than those who believe it's a 'Plandemic' etc.

Is this in the UK? Whats the script with food and drink?

Okay, but that's a bit different to me going to see a guitar band at Ally Pally on Friday, isn't it?

I should have been clearer! It'll definitely be on each individual venue. But, and sorry to stereotype, I imagine it's a lot easier to get people sitting in a theatre for a show, or for a classical concert in an opera house etc, to wear masks, than it is for a 10,000-strong standing crowd at arena-like venues?

Probably more point too - don't masks lose effectiveness when they get wet? I'd be sweating in mine after 5 mins at a standing gig!

Yeah I should have said standing/arena gig to be clear.

I mean I'm a weirdo who can stay cold in heat so the sweating isn't an issue for me but I can't imagine they'd be very pleasant to wear, no!

With the mask thing, since the mandate was removed, I've just worn them in every place where it has been no hassle to me to wear one. Now it's helped the only place I've really been where I'd consider it a hassle is the odd trip to a pub or coffee shop/restaraunt. Other than that I've not been to a match or big event so haven't needed to really bother about it either way.

It’s great news mate. I think the UN had a big role in negotiating this. 105 countries I believe this will apply to. Hopefully it will be a significant boost to those countries that are down to for vaccines.

Big backing from the UN also the effectiveness of the treatment, if it can be used successfully on those impacted by 50%, that’s a massive break through!

Believe regulators are already sifting through the data.

I don’t think it’s a debate really, the data and facts back it up. The U.K. have the highest case instance in the world today. What are the UK not doing that everyone else in the world is…….hmm.
