In my mind there's something a bit sinister going on where the governments have seen this virus as a great opportunity to quieten down the masses and see how far they can basically squash the everyday person down to where they want them. Kill off small businesses whilst the big companies have been able to stay open - your KFC's McDonald's etc have ploughed on through this while family owned businesses either shut or stay open heavily restricted just as one example.

May be just utter bollocks I'm thinking but it just doesn't feel right.

That's just proper silly and untrue both those fast food chains were closed for months.

Round my it was all small independents fish and chips kebab shops remained open be it with delivery or collection only.

Poorly for a couple of days and recovered quickly. We would both be classed as having some higher risk factors, I’m overweight with hypertension for example, and I would be fairly certain the vaccine stopped me from getting more serious symptoms.

Its fairly well established that efficacy wanes over time in terms of preventing spread. I still think getting vaccinated is a sensible thing to do providing you aren’t at high risk of side effects etc. If it reduces the number of serious cases/hospitalisations then it’s doing a job. That being said, individuals are free to make their own decisions, even if I might personally disagree with them.

Glad you both only had it mildly!
I just don’t think it’s effective enough to force it on people, the hysteria and panic is largely created to force people to get vaccinated, btw this is a vaccine that’s been knocked up in a few months, I completely understand why so many are sceptical about it.
It went from protect the elderly to +60 +50 +40 etc.. now today my daughters school are getting it (my daughters not) at 3/4 of the population vaccinated and a large part of the unvaccinated are kids then the data should be going down not up IMO.

In the trial, a booster dose administered to individuals who previously received the Pfizer-BioNTech primary two-dose series restored vaccine protection against COVID-19 to the high levels achieved after the second dose, showing a relative vaccine efficacy of 95.6% when compared to those who did not receive a booster. These are the first efficacy results from any randomized, controlled COVID-19 vaccine booster trial.

Yes it’s tongue in cheek, but the message is there. I’m sick of seeing nobheads here in North Wales wandering around shops without masks, the overwhelming majority being in the 18-30 ish bracket. “I’m too cool and edgy and too much of a rebel to wear a mask”. So it’s no wonder our numbers are still high, and yet some on here criticise governments for mixed messaging, when there’s a sign outside literally every shop saying face masks are compulsory (unless exempt). It couldn’t be any clearer.

It’s about time they stopped serving these people, then they’d have to fall into line or starve, which is ok with me.
