Your common sense approach would be another lockdown.

People are not going to wear masks forever thats a fact. The solution needs to be vaccination and improved treatments in the long term.

Your being the silly Billy like the other stepfords now, saying things I have not said. And we talking about the now. COVID is not going wait for the improved treatments and 100% vaccine effectiveness, unless you have crystals ball then I'm all eyes on you next response in stopping unnecessary death!?

I'd be shocked if indoor events like concerts continue throughout this winter with just masks as a measure - surely they aren't THAT good for people packed in that close for that long (ventilation isn't going to be in for this winter, most don't have windows in those spaces and it doesn't sound cheap to sort the proper systems). 1 in 3 jobs in the music industry lost to the pandemic, they're on a knife edge and that's just one example
Think if the messaging around mask wearing and ventilation had been better, we would be in a better position. The vast majority in the UK (England) are being allowed to swan about if it were the last days of the Raj. Simply irresponsible.

Flexible working, come into the office say 2 or 3 days a week and WFH the remainder, has some coordination issues but is a way of getting some of the benefits of both.

Yep, we are given full freedom at the minute though to do 1, 5 or no days should we wish which i think personally is best for me.

Even as you say though, allowing this hybrid/flexible working can also mean if someone does have a cold/flu etc they can and should be allowed to WFH until they are recovered.

Not for me WFH full time causes a lot of problems of its own - house price inflation as people gazump esch other for bigger houses for office space, the animal/breeding trade is a shambles with dogs bred for profit not health and many left with dysfunctional problems such as separation anxiety.

Thats not throwing in that a lot of people dont want to be at home full time and can suffer depression / mental health issues.

Im sure than Van Tam fella said this mad bug thats wiping everyone out is partly down to the fact our immune systems are lower because we've spent 18 months hidden away.

Long term this aint good for anyone - simply put the NHS needs to increase capacity and train more staff to deal with this thing going forward.

We can't live like this forever we're double jabbed! Anyone who isn't inconvenience their lives not ours!

I’m entirely the opposite and this really hit home for me yesterday when I was back in the office for the first time in a long time. Up at 6, in the dark, get the train just after 7, in the dark, get to the office just as it was getting a little bit lighter around 8, then leave the office at 4 just as it was getting dark again, taking two hours because of train issues, get home in the dark, too tired to cook anything so plump for a take away, after which I felt down because of the money I’ve just wasted and because it’s unhealthy.

Contrast that to today, out of bed at 7.30 for a morning walk, make a fantastic meal at lunch time, finish at 4.30, currently on my evening walk and I couldn’t be happier and looking forward to the weekend.

I've been splitting my week between home and office and been enjoying the mix to be honest. But I get that everyone has their own preference. I can be pretty flexible and only go into the office the days I want to. Getting out of the house a couple of days definitely breaks up the week for me.

De-icing the car when the first frost hits might change my opinion though...

I think the point there mate is you should have the option flexibility to do half and half or whatever.

Its not fair to make home working mandatory when for some who live alone etc it can cause more problems than it helps prevent.

I live alone too ?

I most fear having our weekend’s taken away.
