If they reintroduce WFH again or mini lockdowns etc they may as well make it compulsory forever as COVID isn't going away.

Agree with face masks indoors I still do that now tbh but anything else is overkill.

The facht so many would be happy with lockdowns etc. shows how much the media have terrified people in this country.

Key bit I guess would be if people would walk the talk but at least in theory a high percentage claim to support mask mandates (if it stops the pubs from closing!)

seems high, but the people who won't wear masks prob wouldn't take part in a yougov poll and vice-versa.

it's mad that a third would support a lockdown too. i think its more important for behaviours of the public and the government to change.

49 000 cases today.

Doesn't mean 49000 sick though and the vast majority of hospital cases 80+% are unvaccinated.

Perhaps throwing numbers out is going to cause an over reaction? Maybe we aren't going to enter a peak level like last winter because we have all been vaccinated? If the vaccine works and only I think 3% of cases are going to hospital , but with underlying issues then it's not as scary as it's being made out to be.

TLDR- people vaccinated aren't getting sick, vast majority of hospital cases are anti vaxxers, maybe the vaccine will keep everyone alive and out of hospital like it's meant to.

WFH is the right thing to do during flu season anyway and ought to be encouraged at all times.

Not for me WFH full time causes a lot of problems of its own - house price inflation as people gazump esch other for bigger houses for office space, the animal/breeding trade is a shambles with dogs bred for profit not health and many left with dysfunctional problems such as separation anxiety.

Thats not throwing in that a lot of people dont want to be at home full time and can suffer depression / mental health issues.

Im sure than Van Tam fella said this mad bug thats wiping everyone out is partly down to the fact our immune systems are lower because we've spent 18 months hidden away.

Long term this aint good for anyone - simply put the NHS needs to increase capacity and train more staff to deal with this thing going forward.

We can't live like this forever we're double jabbed! Anyone who isn't inconvenience their lives not ours!

I take these polls with a pinch of salt. What people say and what people do definitely aren't always the same thing. If 80% genuinely supported mandatory masks then 80% would be wearing a mask in the supermarket etc. There is nothing stopping anyone right now.

I think people give the answers of what they think others should do!

I also don't know 1 person who supports a full lockdown or wants schools shut. That 30 odd percent total can't be reflective of wider opinion. If 29% of Britain genuinely thinks we should shut schools then I give up on this country!

Maybe they should make vaccines mandatory rather than punishing the rest of us!

WFH if you can should be encouraged not mandated anyway during the winter with flu season and everything else. The amount of people that used to come into the office, including myself with viruses as you couldnt afford to be off sick was ridiculous.

Masks should never have gone away though, especially knowing the winter was coming

The point about the NHS is spot on but its been decimated by the Tories and further hit with Brexit etc.

As for WFH, I think it should be encouraged at certain points/months (not mandated) but if people chhose to go in for mental health or other reasons they should be allowed. My place of work is still allowing people to do either should they wish which is helpful.

Flexible working, come into the office say 2 or 3 days a week and WFH the remainder, has some coordination issues but is a way of getting some of the benefits of both. As you say seasonality should also play a part.
