How is Jenny Harries still a thing? She shouldn't be anywhere near this situation anymore.
She`s a nasty piece of work isn`t she ???

UK has been averaging around 1000 deaths per week for several weeks now, if that is “mercifully low” what is considered high?
That's within 28 days of a test - a LOT of those deaths will be almost entirely unrelated to the actual infection due to the age profile of those being admitted.
Seems to me that it could be a storm in a teacup but presented as something else.Maybe they should make vaccines mandatory rather than punishing the rest of us!

Basically a press conference to tell us they are doing nothing. Other than telling us to get the vax which we knew anyway. Worry of course there if they don't clamp down now, meaning a much harder clampdown later which shouldn't be necessary if they acted now.
This time last year we were being dumped into tiers and look how well that worked.![]()
I agree that “from Covid” and “with Covid “ can make a big difference. That's within 28 days of a test - a LOT of those deaths will be almost entirely unrelated to the actual infection due to the age profile of those being admitted.
@The binman chronicles as expected unfortunately
Some will likely be retests or asymptotic people checking given the news but when a koad of people are given false negatives not surprising if the outbreak gets worse.
There is problem with people who are vaccinated, they can still transmit, no matter if it's unvaccinated for whatever reason or people who are immune compromised they all are at risk. The simple preventative measures such as face masks should have continued.Waffle, waffle, vaccine, waffle. Waffle, antiviral drugs waffle.
In short, carry on but please get vaccine (not sure how that convinces people who already are not vaccinated) and erm, yep thats it. Idiots

However UKs biweekly data does try to get to that by separating out the hospital cases with a test date of same day as admission and if I’m reading it right the latest result seems like over half of the over 50s with an ER visit are still in ie they are there Covid, not something else and testing picked up they also had Covid (Table 5)
Wonder if the over 80's figures are due to the original vaccine having worn off
