80%+ adults fully vaccinated or not... we're in for a rough for months.

Great data. My takeaway is that the vaccines work, insofar as preventing mortality goes. We should be seeing a big spike in mortality, given the correspondence between the last infection peak and the last mortality peak, but we're not.

The reason for the low case count at the first mortality peak is the lack of testing supplies at that time.

I'm double vaccinated, under 50 and above average fitness running about 20miles a week. I'm awaiting a PCR test result but seems like I've got it. Seems my eldest child picked it up at a festival.

So far it feels like I've been hit by a bus. First high temp and headaches and now feels like someone sitting on my chest.
Hope you feel better soon mate. Keep us posted

The Oximeter is just for reassurance more than anything else, because it's easy to feel easily out of breath and panic (especially with all of the media hysteria and fear marketing) but I was advised that a reading of 85-90 or above is OK but repeated readings below 85 can be a precursor for it getting a bit worse and it may be worth going to the hospital to be assessed.

Hope it helps and you feel better soon.

Yep thanks. Was nice to have for reassurance. Temp almost back to normal but breathing heavy. Wish it was winter with this heat outside ?

I had my 2nd jab back in end March so getting on for 6 months ago. I know it's all a bit random but wife and others with similar exposure that only had 2nd jabs in July/August all fine

Sounds like from Israel it'll be every 6 months for us all eventually

Just some common sense and reality that vaccination, it was only part of the answer. transmission was always likely to continue and being vulnerable to COVID was still a very dangerous risk. Mask wearing and social distancing needed to contine in England. And some interventions in educational establishments would have helped. Actually wanting to prevent death apparently is a difficult concept.

Thing is mate, look at cases/deaths and how they rocketed last winter. Click here and hover over the cases/deaths as a reminder. That was with masks/social distancing/closures.

Looking at comparisons to last year, if cases go the same away as they did last year in winter - I think even with the 80% double vaccinated headline, it's going to be even worse than LY.

I don't think deaths will go anywhere near as high. The current average is about 190 per day. In January 2021 the worst 7 day average was around 1230.

Thats 6x as high as now. You'd have to assume that at some point the average cases will have to drop if cases carry on at 30,000-40,000 per day.

Due to the vaccinations to get 1230 average you'd need above 200,000 cases a day which surely can't happen.
