Not sure what you mean by the situation in WA? I have family in Perth and it seems okay as most places but to be honest we've not really caught up properly in a while.
tbh, not much 'news' from WA gets a big play on the E Coast, all we see is a sound bite of McGowen moving the 'freedom' goalposts further down the track.
But we do see a picture of a man in full PPE, this is not a staged comedy pic either...spraying the goalposts for Covid.
And the cancelling of the pre game Friday parade due to 'terrorist concerns - really, terrorists, the place has been shut up tighter than a drum for a year...unless you're an AFL player or a WAG.

20 yrs ago medevil nutters terroised the world at the twin towers...we don't need them now, as we're are quietly terrorising ourselves...well electing tossers to do it for us.

It is crazy how vaccines and mandates have become so political here in the US given their extensive historical use

Another way to understand the situation is to compare each state’s vaccination rate with its recent daily Covid infection rate. The infection rates in the least vaccinated states are about four times as high as in the most vaccinated states:

Data as of Sept. 2; cases are the 7-day daily average. The New York Times
If the entire country had received shots at the same rate as the Northeast or California, the current Delta wave would be a small fraction of its current size. Delta is a problem. Vaccine hesitancy is a bigger problem.

Why’ve you given up on going abroad, it’s not shut you know ?

Also, you’re talking like all this in the future is a foregone conclusion, when it really isn’t.

Let’s not forget, there was predictions after opening up in July, that we’d all be locked away again by now, after a Summer of death.

How about let’s wait and see, before going into full on Captain Mannering mode.
For example

I know that it's a lot easier to travel now, but even with a green list country, you need to provide a negative test before your flight home as far as I know. I can't really afford the risk of testing positive and being stuck abroad for 10 days. For me, the risk isn't worth it at the minute with work and whatever.
Same for me travelling within the EU. I went to Poland for a weekend recently (from Germany). No special restrictions but I was nervous about catching something while there and getting stranded there until I was allowed to get back on a plane.

I'm double vaccinated, under 50 and above average fitness running about 20miles a week. I'm awaiting a PCR test result but seems like I've got it. Seems my eldest child picked it up at a festival.

So far it feels like I've been hit by a bus. First high temp and headaches and now feels like someone sitting on my chest.

Keep hydrated, eat when you can, try some deep breathing exercises and maybe get a cheap oximeter if you want some reassurance. It will pass.

I'm reasonably fit, had it a few weeks ago and felt similar to you for about a week. Felt rubbish and easily out of breath. My next door neighbour has diabetes, smokes and is very overweight. He had it and didn't feel a thing, he just lost his taste and smell for a few days. My Dad had it and apart from a bit of a cough, continued to work through it. My brother the same.

Like all things, it affects people differently.

I get what you're saying but the risk profile has changed in a lot of peoples minds. If you're double vaccinated and your family member is double vaccinated the chance of death or major illness is reduced massively, I'm pretty sure I seen a statistic that nobody double vaccinated under 50 in the UK has died from covid. Unless some sort of variant comes in which isn't even the case yet. If we had a vaccine resistant variant, fair enough but thats not the case currently.

This country is absolutely finished in the long run unless they increase the size of the NHS.

I have a funny feeling that there may be one just around the corner.
