Yeah as much as I love the music industry and hospitality, it's not really viable in a covid world, which we now live in probably forever

Not all businesses will survive. Will be interesting to see if they keep furlough this winter or just let market forces do their thing

Thing is mate, look at cases/deaths and how they rocketed last winter. Click here and hover over the cases/deaths as a reminder. That was with masks/social distancing/closures.

Looking at comparisons to last year, if cases go the same away as they did last year in winter - I think even with the 80% double vaccinated headline, it's going to be even worse than LY.
I don't understand the visceral hatred people have of wearing a mask in certain situations. It's not just an "I'd rather not" opinion it's complete and total contempt of the idea and why?

Such a simple and effective way or reducing the risk but now totally polarised.

Why are the Tory party refusing to wear them is it just to be popular with these kinds of people, must be the case.

You've mentioned Scotland and Wales have masks still in place. Have you checked their recent case numbers?
Yes and unfortunately very much predicted as people unable or unwilling to fly abroad came in for their holidays in their millions, too many mouth breathers in this number it seems.

I'd rather try and be better safe than sorry but many are happy to be better sorry than safe.

Yes and very much predicted as people unable or unwilling (sensible and probably the type to wear masks) to fly abroad, instead came in for their holidays in their millions, too many mouth breathers in this number it seems.

Jesus Christ man

Notoriously sensible people, them Scots – the ones who were in London going into every bar going for the Euros game at Wembley?

Just stop pedalling this weird nonsense. There's idiots everywhere, and sensible people everywhere.

Mask wearing isn't the be all and end all. Not one bit. I keep it up when I go to a shop or obviously anywhere medical and then other than that I never have one on me. I ain't wearing a mask to go to the pub (not that I go loads) or for food or a coffee, unless the establishment in question would have it as mandatory (but nowhere does). I'm especially not wearing one when I go to these gigs I'm finally going to be able to get to next month, hopefully.

I too, don't understand why people 'hate it'. It's a really, really weird thing to hate. It's dead easy to do. But also, it's nice not to have to scrabble around thinking if I've got my mask or not when I want to stand up in a coffee shop.

Hope you feel better soon mate. Keep us posted

Cheers.

As an update I still feel like I've a really bad hangover. Temp has generally settled down but have headaches and a chesty cough and all feels achy and laboured. Been like this since about Sunday. Just lying in bed and drinking lots. No chance of work etc.

I don't feel especially anxious at all just still quite crap and not really a noticeable improvement.

To be honest before this I was feeling pretty relaxed about it all being double vaccinated etc.

Looking at the stats from @GrandOldTeam the other day on here does leave me concerned for the winter ahead.

for most people mate it's a 4-5 day thing. But given your symptoms haven't got any worse then that's a good sign.

I was having to work (from home) while I had it bad and it was horrendous. I'm self employed so couldn't take t he time off even though work said I could, I'd have lost £100s, so just had to work when I could but there was two mornings when I couldn't lift my head out of bed. But then the next day I felt fine.

Quite surprised he has decided that english tourists visiting has resulted in massive spikes in Scotland and Wales.

Well said.

Apologies for no updates past two days, was on full day overtime in work and didn’t have a chance to check things

Hospital figures - 131 deaths were announced today, down 21 on yesterday’s total of 152 and down 10 on last Thursday. 99 deaths were in English hospitals, no data from yesterday but it’s down 19 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 106.71

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 167 deaths were announced today, down 24 on yesterday’s total of 191 and down 11 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 131.57

For the 60 day cut off, 191 deaths were announced today, down 25 on yesterday’s total of 216 and down 16 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 150.57

I was in Blackpool over the Bank Holiday and it was full of pissed up Glaswegians.

By pissed up, I mean could hardly stand up at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon pissed up.

Not a mask in sight, but that went near enough for the whole of Blackpool tbh.

Seeing as you’re so keen to put my fingers, maybe Blackpool should ban the unmasked, bladdered Glasgow contingent from their traditional annual Bank Holiday piss up in Blackpool ?

I know that due to the ban of your glorious leader, you’ve attempted to step up in his absence and fill the void, but you don’t half talk some mad stuff.
