Do you live with your parents?

No mate, but for the last two weeks now I have been!

So I live with two mates but one of them tested positive while at work. He'd been away for the weekend prior (the one when England played Ukraine) and stayed at his girlfriend's and hadn't come home to ours. He called me up on the Tuesday to say he'd tested positive and was on his way back home. So given I'd had no contact with him, while I know it wasn't strictly the rules, I got my stuff together and headed back to my parents' - it's like a 10-min drive. Why risk staying in a house with someone who definitely has it when I didn't (as far as I was aware) and having to sodding isolate for 10 days.

So, was about to head back to mine on Monday, but then tested positive on lateral flow. My housemates are both negative and the one who had symptoms (cough, sickness) has fully recovered, and his girlfriend is pregnant so I don't want to risk going back there and spreading it. So just staying here for another week, now.

I've got very mild symptoms. Yesterday morning was bad but really that seems to has passed now and I've got more of a bad cold/sore throat which can be eased with painkillers, though they obviously wear off a bit and it comes back.

Frankly, if there had never been COVID, it's probably not something I'd had had time off work for, if you get me. But I know, it's different for everyone.

What an absolute pain all that is! Hope you recover well mate!

Not sure if i'm just in a good mood because of the weather - but the rolling case rates for the NW seem to be coming back down again

Fingers crossed

Hopefully north east will start stabilising and dropping soon. Schools finishing and the euros finishing plus the warm weather should all help.

Cheers mate, sure I'll be fine, have just done another lateral flow and I'm positive still, not that it's a surprise, but feel loads better in the last 24 hours. Painkillers are helping loads. Like I said, main worry for me is my mum and dad but they're both showing no symptoms and have been negative every day too. They were both double dosed by the start of June.

All I'll say is I think it shows how a) the vaccine works - and I've had one dose, but it was 3 weeks ago so it's 100% in my system and b) being healthy generally helps too.

What a stupid question ffs

There is no way Labour should be opposing that ruling. They should be urging people - especially their younger voting base - to go and get the effing vaccine.

Edit: So I'm clear, I hate the ruling too. I just think that it's the only way you can actually force people to get the vaccine, short of making it a legal requirement (which I disagree with).
