Utterly nuts

What’s more is that the leadership of the Tennessee Department of Health has reacted to the sabre rattling from the Government Operations Committee by halting ALL vaccination outreach for children. Not just COVID-19 vaccine outreach for teens, but ALL communications around vaccines of any kind. No back-to-school messaging to the more than 30,000 parents who did not get their children measles vaccines last year due to the pandemic. No messaging around human papilloma virus vaccine to the residents of the state with one of the highest HPV cancer rates in the country.

JFC. Literally fired for doing her job. The deeper story seems to be that she was trying spread the word that a court ruling allowed for minors age 14 to 18 to receive medical treatment even without parental consent. In other words, “High school kids, if your bat**** parents won’t take you to get the vaccine before you return to school in a few weeks, you can just go get it in your own.”

Good news with Soberana 2 COVID-19 vaccine, up in the 90s with efficacy, also its "conjugate vaccine", is the best at not having side effects, thus safer than others currently in circulation probably even for the little ones.

The backlash to this...

... is where the civil liberties argument falls down.

This is reasonable from Waterstones. It's a polite request, it's not a demand. There's plenty of things you automatically do when you enter a shop, like wear clothes, not punch people, don't rob the place etc. that you just do because there's a tacit understanding that that's what the place of business wants you to do.

This isn't curtailing your freedoms. You're still free to not wear a mask. People need to understand the difference more.

As much as the government are crap - and we all know they are, but feel I should put that point first to stave off the usual suspect(s) - why do people want them to literally have a law for every single thing.

Johnson spouts so much tosh, we all know that, but the 'common sense approach' is right. The only question is whether the timing of that is right. Some will argue it's not – and I tend to agree – but others will say well if not now, then we'll have to wait a year (and that's also true).

But you have people on the opposite side then doing exactly what you're saying, being utter muppets about it all. And as if any of them can read anyway.

Is wearing a facemask really that much of a ball ache for people?

Can't imagine how some of you lot would have coped with rations
Makes my eczema over the top. Especially during summer. My dermatologist too advised against me wearing it, but even If I tell it like this to people outside, they won't listen and say I'm trying to kill them.

Appear to have gone full blown anti vax, at least for kids.

I'm not really bothered about the mask wearing. I find the governments decision to make it optional on the 19th crazy.

I've been to a few supermarkets today in three different towns and I'd say I seen at least 5 people in each without a mask. I really think a good percentage will completely swerve masks on the 19th due to the governments mixed messaging.

I assume the media will blame the public but its the governments fault.

The mixed messaging is intentional.
