Back in March last year, when this madness started, someone on here said that 2021 will be even more of a write-off than 2020. I didn't believe that poster at the time but looks like it. At least in 2020 we had completely normal two months, (at least in Europe or Western World) January & February.

My last holiday was February 2020 (to Angers and the Loire valley), even by April 2020 it felt like a lifetime ago.

Saumur’s tank museum is a great place to visit btw

See the news from the Netherlands. 500% increase in infections, mainly delta type. Put down to the ending of restrictions at the end of June.
Think again Johnson!

Every other country is going to have a massive rise in cases similar to we are. They will see much higher death rates however due to our high vaccination rates.

I expect lots of 'red' countries in the coming months..

Yes, put down to the ending of restrictions in June when their vaccination roll out was nowhere near what the UK's is.

As of Monday, the Netherlands have only fully vaccinated 6.7m people. They only have a population of 18m. My mate lives over there and says it's been a royal mess from start to finish - the government has got pelters for it. Had they had their house in order with it they'd be done by now.

The UK has administered 80,975,508 doses of the vaccine. 45,978,017 of those are the first dose, and 34,997,491 have had the second dose as well.

The UK's population is approx 68.25m.

Now, that's 50% of the entire population. As a percentage of the adult population it will be higher.

That is why the UK is opening up, because the vaccination programme has been rolled out faster here than anywhere else in Europe.

The Netherlands should have been done by now. Less than 7m people fully vaccinated in a developed, wealthy country of that size is baffling.

If it’s a country with a brilliant rollout, they need not worry.

Iceland have neared their 280,000 aim and as of the 9th are on just over 264,849 first dosages and 239,686 completed vaccination. They have a population of 342,000 and the youngest age you have to be to get a vaccine is 12 and they also use the single dose of Jansen to get through the numbers quickly.

It's going to spread, particularly in France and Spain by the Dutch.
Hundreds of thousands head south in July and August.
Their yellow number plates are very prevelent here in Central France.

Its reckoned that someone aged 80 who is fully vaccinated essentially is at the same risk from Covid-19 as an unvaccinated person of around 50.

Just the age where the 3rd booster is most likely needed.
