The obvious other question is whether the vaccine can cause long COVID, which seems unlikely but possible.

If long COVID is caused only by reactivation of the disease after contraction, and not by the antibodies from the vaccine, there's a pretty strong public health argument for strongarming people into getting the vaccine.

Absolutely. I hate busy places now (always have to be fair) and its a good excuse not to go there! I will be wearing a mask in supermarkets still and using sanitizer religiously. Although I've used sanitizer with the kids in public places for ages way before covid was a thing, as the general public are disgusting! lol
Plenty won't and mask protect others from you more than it protects yourself.

The visable mouth breather from the 19th is more than happy for you to where a mask to protect them, just along as you don't expect the courtesy back as it impedes their freedoms.

And this will just revert back to people lying trying to convince that their little corner of the UK is exceptionally good at choosing to wear the mask and respect others. Despite the evidence of soaring cases, just as we did with pubs and regional lock down previously, tedious predictability...

Deeply concerning stuff. It's really quite sophisticated propaganda. Scanning on the QR code takes you straight down the QAnon rabbithole.

They're being produced by these people:

Police are involved.

Haven’t seen anything to date re vaccination causing long Covid.

For those that had long Covid prior to vaccination about 30-40% feel better after vaccination but 10-15% worse so a complex issue to resolve.

When you watch David Attenborough's documentaries you quickly realise humans are the biggest virus on this planet
Slightly out of context I know, but you're comment reminded me of a quote by Joseph Conrad.

"The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness."

As a species, we're an uncontrollable virus that is only doing harm to other species and the planet as a whole; no other pathogen comes close to us.

Hospital figures - 38 deaths were announced today, up 33 on yesterday and up 5 on last Tuesday. 37 deaths were in English hospitals, again up 33 on yesterday and up 5 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to 25.86

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 50 deaths were announced today, up 41 on yesterday and up 13 on last Tuesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 30.43

For the 60 day cut off, 60 deaths were announced today, up 51 on yesterday and up 16 on last Tuesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 37.14

Worth noting, as always, that Tuesday’s figures are always higher due to weekend catch ups

Just had a scan at that QR code link. Some concerning stuff in there, with the usual misleading claims, and lack of context provided around some key claims - especially around the Yellow Card system which anti-vaxxers have jumped on, and seem to have no idea of how to read and contextualise those numbers.

What stood out to me was something that I’ve also noticed in a couple of mates who are anti-vax, that there’s an incredibly selfish and callous attitude smuggled in there - ‘If you catch it, the risk is really low, so it’s only the old and vulnerable at real risk’, ‘yeah, the vaccine might stop you spreading it, but someone will always be dying of covid somewhere, and that responsibility is not on you’.

Suspect there’s some money behind them, as the website is reasonably well put together, and mobile friendly.

Not everybody who won't wear a mask from next week is a 'mouth breather'

My dad was talking to a lad in Sainsbury's (who works there) today. They've been told it'll be up to them whether they continue to wear one or not. The staff have been wearing masks 8-12 hours a day for a year now. They aren't doctors or nurses in medical settings, they're supermarket staff.

Anyway, this lad told my dad he was going to stop wearing them for his shifts because he'd developed really bad acne around his mouth and on his cheeks, which he'd never had before. My dad says he must only be 19/20 age.

Look, it's a small problem perhaps in the grand scheme of things, but not everybody is some selfish tit, and it's clearly a problem for the lad in question.

But you're incapable of distinguishing aren't you, everything is black or white with you, and far too many other people as well, a lot of whom claim to be socialists.

I'm lucky, I don't have to wear a mask for long hours. I have to pop one on to go to the shop or the hairdressers or on a train or in a taxi, or if I'm stood up in a pub or whatever, and i'll happily continue to do so, but I'm not going to judge anyone who doesn't as a bad person.

There's no way masks should be mandatory for any longer than is absolutely nessecary. Now, I don't actually think we've reached that point yet, but we will do down the line, that's for sure – that's the aim of vaccination. If the one thing re. masks to come out of this is that people wear them when they're feeling a bit rough, but need to be out and about, then that's a good thing.

Well said. All valid points. I also have seborrhoeic dermatitis on my cheeks and nose, and mask makes it soo worse.
