Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I'm not necessarily sure it's purely down to a confidence issue

It's incredibly difficult to get any sort of appointment with a GP at the moment - They seem to be one of the few employment industries that are still shielding from the public. It's hard to have an 'E-Consultation' about whether you have Cancer or not
A good mate of mine had six 'E-Consultations' with his doctor over the last 7 months due to stomach pains he kept getting.
He just kept putting him on different antibiotics. The pain got so bad one day he went to A&E.
The next day they removed a badly infected kidney (urine leaking into it from his bladder) and sent him to an oncologist.
It turns out he has advanced cancer of the bladder and it has spread to his lungs. Doesn't look good at all for him to be honest.
Who knows what the outcome might have been if it had been diagnosed and picked up 7 months earlier?

Surely that cannot be right? People are very scared but how can so many support those measures regardless of figures?
The majority of people don't use things like nightclubs, casinos and pubs - ergo they have no desire to see them remain open/reopen at all

It's difficult to remain impartial - because we all have different ways of enjoying our lives

I wouldn't be bothered about nightclubs, casinos, bingo halls and gyms never opening again because I don't use them

I would be really bothered about not going to gigs, cinema, pubs, restaurants, theatres and foreign holidays - but other people would gladly see all of those things go to the wall

I dont use any of them, although I did in the past. But you are correct; we all view this through our personal lives. And as such, I would not preach to others about what they do or dont want to do. Not saying you are btw.

I was handed a second chance re life and stuff, and am determined not to let a kopite, spiteful virus derail that.

Not at all Roydo - I fully understand that other people take pleasure in things I have no interest in, just as my interests may seem alien to others

This virus has already created huge divisions in the population. Different generations blame each other for certain things, neighbours have become distrustful of each other - those early days of everybody helping each other out and generally being a bit kinder feel like a lifetime ago.

I've already come to terms with life never being the same again for me - This mad rush for 'normality' (whatever that looks like nowadays) seems like a fools gambit currently.

If wearing a mask, or checking into a pub, or sanitising my hands stops us from being locked away again - then so be it. I can't face being plunged back into a full lockdown again.

Maybe I am lucky where I live. But I dont experience that at all.

We get a take away curry every few weeks, and the lads there know why I choose a quiet time to collect it. Same with getting the MOT for the car. They pick it up from the house and let me use their spare. Then the supermarket staff, when they tell me they are quiet so all good, are just so respectful.

I have moved to the 1950's havnt i??

This instantly came to mind reading this - You're not Nick Berry are you?!

Casinos and nightclubs are the seedy places I love frequenting.

Lifes been utterly boring since they've been closed.

lol

It is a bit like that thinking about it! We have a wonderful community, not without some tits, obvs, seem to be respectful of each other in all this crap, and just look out for each other, as best you can.
Sounds like you've done alright there - Just the sort of place the missus and I would love to end up in

I don't use half of them things myself mate and I'm rarely out after 10pm but I think randomly wanting to ban activities that others enjoy is a bit mental. Fair enough if covid is particularly bad but that surveys says regardless of covid levels which is the issue.
