Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Not really. The deaths come from existing numbers already infected pre-lockdown who take days/weeks to die, rather than a reflection of the current situation.

It takes quite a while for a lockdown to reflect in the figures, because in the short term more families will get infected as they go into lockdown too.

I'm hoping that's the case. It's been two weeks now so hopefully next week we see it start to ease off.

I'm not talking about the social distancing measures here. That's common sense. I'm talking about total lockdown like in Italy. What are they basing it on – that it worked in China. When, let's face it, we don't know the exact figures for China?

Let's just hope we can avoid a similar spike.

I believe it is the right strategy, but it is too early to tell.

Sadly deaths are probably the more reliable indicator in the early stages, as testing has so many variables. Infections, whether detected or not, should slow after 7-14 days, but the figures for deaths won't show any slowing for I don't know how long after. Of course, if/when hospitals are overwhelmed this figure will be skewed again.

Well I think there's a difference between a total lockdown and measures like we now have.

We're all but in lockdown but people can still go out and get fresh air and stuff - it's all about common sense. I admit not everyone has that. But it's also key for people staying healthy and hopefully having a better chance of fighting off the illness if they get it.

By the way that was a joke Joe. Make sure you read the instructions ffs.

I can just see the headlines now, "Everton fan in hospital with food poisoning after following incorrect advice on a fans forum"lol
I read the manual ......and set the temperature dial on the recommendation setting... it's a beast of a fridge a lot larger for stockpiling food...- joking - as long as my insulin, and our food is at the right temperature now.... chickpeas etc :D

We won't know for sure until we get the antibody tests and pretty much the whole population is tested.

Here's an idea. And this totally off the top off me head. US senators were briefed on the virus going back to mid-January, allegedly.

Of course I'm sure, that if they dumped their stock it was purely coincidental and in no way did alphabet agencies in the UK or the US, warn anybody.

And I'm utterly convinced that without any prior warning, obtaining test kits for Covid was impossible and preparing medical facilities for an influx of an overwhelming amount of sufferers could not be envisaged.

In no way did our respective governments have any foreshadowing of what was to come. And through their policy of catch the devil by the tail it ultimately resulted in saving innumerable lives.

Apologies for not responding. Been quite unwell.

sorry if you know this already, but I think 111 need to be contacted if you've had it for 8 days now without it going
Mate, seriously you need to ring 111 and get yourself into hospital if the symptoms are still that severe.
You tested positive lad?
U okay mate. You with someone and not on your own yeah

I've had the test results back, but they're negative. After spending yesterday waiting 5 hours to see a doctor, they've diagnosed me with a really nasty bout of bronchitis again, and it has well and truly knocked me for six.

The good news is that it's a LRI, so if I can survive this - I should be able to survive an URI.

Lot of things don't make scenes if you look at the bigger picture, India for example have 283 reported cases, basically couple of buildings in Mumbai, many countries around the World were reporting that the early cases that arrived traveled from Egypt (again the official number in Egypt is 285 reported cases)

Egypt and India should already be 100X worse than Italy if you take into consideration how heavily populated they are

Good news that it's not corona virus, and hope you can fight the bronchitis. Stay in doors, rest and get yourself better!

Following the hurd immunity plan which thankfully changed Monday into Tuesday would have sent thousands more to their deaths, well before their time. And that Vallence is a Cummings Brexit crony...
